Just fyi the amd 6 series is out and one of them competes directly with the GTX 460, according to some benchmarks I skimmed, there's not a great deal between the two of them.

Anyway, I've found the Saphire for £205 (ebuyer) which is acceptably overbudget (sorry CV), just need to measure my case to make sure it fits then will order.

And probably make a thread about how I've buggered it up and need help repairing all the damage I did...

Uh matey, I wouldn't buy that card now. Not because it's being made obsolete by the just introduced 6870 (just as fast, but under 200€ street price), but also because with the new cards introduced it can't possible sustain the current price and is likely to get much cheaper in a bit (if you really want to have this specific one). The 6850 and 6870 seem to be just a bit slower and just a bit faster than a 5850 respectively, with 150€ and 200€ street price, so I don't see why you would want to by a 5850 for 200 POUNDS if it's not faster than the 6870 while being more expensive at the same time.

Alternatively look again at a GTX 460, which will probably be even cheaper but a bit slower (or 470 for a similar speed, depending on price and personal preference (I'd suggest 6870, though)).

Any English reviews on the new 68xx series of ATI cards yet? Have they beaten Nvidia again? Strangely, the new 68xx seem to be priced near to the NVidia 460.. and *less* than the 5850 (I'm confused!)

@Power, good shout mate, I just checked this before I ordered Grin Automatically assumed that the new range would be out of my price range, but its literally the same price for the 5850 as it was for the 6870 <3.
