The Trouble With Being Born - 46.105.108.11:25571

We found a new host. 1.8 is out later next week. The changes to the map generator are too great to keep old maps so we will be starting a new map at that point. Theres currently no whitelist until 1.8 comes, if you come play now though it will help us add you before we turn the whitelist on. I will try to do something with old maps at some point but for now this is a temporary map until we start a fresh one with 1.8. 1.8 adds giant mushroom biomes, rivers, deep oceans, underground ravines, npc villages, and all of it needs a fresh map.

As we're just going to restart soon anyway, I've turned mobs off, picked a reasonably flat map and am going to spawn a bunch of pistons, redstone, etc near spawn so we can mess around prototyping stuff.

its not fun to play solo, i think its very important to play over voice comms if you want it to be fun. Rippy is a prime example of this.

Well the problem and at the same time the strength of Minecraft is that it isn't much of a game by itself (yet?), you have to come up with something to do for yourself. There's not quest, no endboss and no princess to save. Just you and the world and whatever you make out of it.

If you're the kinda guy that creates an awesome house with a beautiful garden or a caste or a ship or replicate your own house, you'll enjoy it. If you're like me you dig until you got diamond and go "Yay, I have gathered everything the game has to offer, I've done everything to do now. That was pretty boring."

cruelcow needs some imagination.

questing is incoming, theres a half finished experience system in 1.8, a hunger bar that when full gives you health regen, randomly generated towns, dungeons, abandoned mines, etc. The dungeons have mobs but we are still missing as far as i can tell, npcs for the towns and maybe quest givers (shouldn't be too hard to generate quests), and treasure and a boss at the end of a dungeon.
