OK that is just spooky!

Last night my brother brought round his friends laptop for me to take a look at, as it had developed a personality.


IT WAS THAT VERY MODLE!




All in all it wasn't too bad. Nice build to it. In fact it had pritty awesome speakers truth be told. The little remote control that fits into the expansion slot was a nice little gimick.

The only thing that may come to piss you off is how the hard drive has been carved up and set up. It's the fun of carv it into 3 bits. There's a 13gb bit that HP have forbiden you from looking at, as that is their "Recovery" section.  Why the hell they can't just give you one huge hard drive and let people decide if they want to partition it up later I don't know. And is an install disk that difficult to supply?

Also it's riddled with "Utilities". If you've got a windows 7 install disk, you might do well to format and fdisk the drive and do a fresh install without the partitions and bucket load of HP crap.

On the up side. Looked very nice. Was quite light. The full size keyboard was good. Screen wasn't bad for 720p.

Toshiba as first choise. The Asus as second.


But then I'm bias, I like Toshiba. Still got a satalite pro. The hardware has'nt put a foot wrong in over 2 years now. Asus are supposed to be good, but if there is a fault the waranty returns process is rumored to be a bad joke. Happy shopping Smiley

good good the Toshiba is what I was thinking too. Now just gotta hassle my boss to get it ordered before it stop being a pre order special. Though I don't think he will until the refund comes back from the other one. Microdirect don't send an email confirming an order has been cancelled and a refund is on the way Sad

the tech pot, basically commission spread between the tech staff allowing us to get stuff vat free and avoid income tax. Or i could have the cash paid to me where i would pay income tax and then vat on any subsequent purchase.

The laptop is not really going to get used for games much. Its gonna get used more for watching hd movies on the TV and a bit of net browsing and skype and maybe a few older games for good measure.

well the toshiba arrived yesterday on the day of release from play. Sadly I cant start to tinker with it until friday to see how it runs games etc. I think ill try tf2 since i know it will work and then ill try bc2 and see if it just dies. will be a good night to downloading a fk load off steam.

Dell have recently relaunched their XPS laptop range, which are pretty good value for around £600. £650 gets you a 2.5Ghz Core i5, Geforce 420M and 4GB ram. You can get 7% cashback via Quidco too which brings it back down to £605.

Went in PC World who failed miserably to have a HP DV6 in stock (£430 for a Dual Core Athlon 3Gb RAM & Ati 5650 graphics) Comet on the off chance and found an ex display Acer with a Intel Core 2 Duo T6600, 4Gb RAM and Ati 4670 graphics for £440.  I bit the salesman's arm off.

If you are wondering why I haven't bought online it's because I have cash and don't want Mrs Bystander to know what she is getting.
