Only if all the contacts fit on the sim valentine.
Otherwise you need to trick.

Preferable copy the contacts via bluetooth (and a helper pc if you have to).
I once had to move some of the contacts on the sim, switch the sim around, move the contacts from the sim to the new phone; rinse and repeat.

Look around and see who does the best deals, you can't go far wrong with Cannon, Nikon, Samsung, Olympus or Kodak, I like Nikon myself.

Anything over 8 megapixels (10 seems to be pretty standard) is fine, go for a better zoom lens or more features rather than extra megapixels.

Not quite... you need to copy your contacts to the sim and because I didn't really want the phone in the first place there was no incentive to deviate from what I was doing to perform that task. After a couple of days I'd lost interest in it

I've got an Android phone now - moved all my phone numbers over into my Gmail account contacts and now they sync from the cloud. It also grabs my Facebook contacts and matches names so I get the right profile pics when someone rings.  
I <3 living in the future.

I can thoroughly recommend Android devices, brilliant phones for the web. More or less on par with an iPhone, but cheaper.

Well after Power had the camera for 2 minutes it decided to work properly again.. What did I do wrong?? No one knows..

I'd echo the buy a camera, not a phone statements above, but with slightly more emphais. As it stands, all cameras on phones are poor. The inevitably small area available for optics and the relatively low glass quality means that even if you get a phone that advertises itself as having 8 megapixels, it's going to be diffraction limited to about two!

I'd limit the above list to Canon or Nikon, these two are far superior to the others. I use Canon myself but Nikon is also a good choice. Milli is absolutely correct in saying that 8 megapixels is more than enough given the sort of quality optics you're going to get, look for features instead.

What phone did you get Zarf? I'm looking at upgrading soon.

Motorola Dext, It's pretty big and heavy but it has a decent physical slider keyboard and was only £150. Moto has committed to upgrading the firmware to Android 2.1 this year too.

If i was buying now I'd get an HTC Desire, there are some cracking contract deals about, and i've gotten used to using the Swype keyboard so I could probably do without the physical one for typing.
The Desire is much better than the Dext hardware wise - lighter, high res screen, much faster CPU.

Next year i'm thinking of getting a Dell Mini 5 - which is a Smartphone with 5" screen. It's large but I spend most of my time using the web so the bigger the better. Still small enough to fit in a jacket pocket.

I've got the Desire Great phone.

Plus - google maps just updated on Android and it now has built in navigation (as opposed to just maps + directions) It was previously only available in the US.

A very nice little phone, much prefer it to my iPhone 2G (which I have now given to my mum)
