Well, as of tomorrow at about 9am I won't be in the country until the 12th August. I'm off to Austin, Texas for the National Instruments' NI Week 2012 conference. Pretty sweet deal, get to go to America for a week with my flights paid for (and hotel for the duration of the conference) and get to stay there for a long weekend for the price of 2 day's holiday. I'll also be doing the next level LabVIEW certification (CLD) which is a 4 hour practical LabVIEW exam but there's only about 40-50 or so people in the country that have it.

Considering I'm leaving at 9am, I havn't even started packing or anything. Whoops. I'm taking my work laptop, so I won't be completely disconnected from everything that's going on. Smiley

Sometimes my job has its bonuses!

I've actually been told, specifically, that I *cannot* work while I'm there because of taking my work laptop with me and export licenses etc. I have to take some paper/documents that reference our company's export license and any work I do while I'm there would become property of the US and they could confiscate my laptop!

Actually I'm quite getting into the Olympics as we've put BBC1 on TV all day at work and it's better than whatever crap (Kiss & Smash Hits) radio station our kitchen designer puts on.  The customers like it too.

Temped a December in a HR dept filled with girls who had similar drivel on. Over Christmas that meant basically five songs repeated over and over and over. Wasn't upset when that ended.

My brother played a gig this evening supporting Jessie J @ Camden roundhouse. Would have had VIP tickets, but I was working -.-
Also, it was a fucking nightmare shift tonight. 2 walkouts, items not put into a take-out order and a child managing to get herself locked into one of the toilet cubicles, to name but a few

Went to see Reel Big Fish last night, awesome Cheesy debated whether to buy a shirt on the way out but figured I could just one online if I really wanted one. Anyway, as we were one of the last groups leaving, someone made the call to go round to the back of the venue to see them leave n say hello n shit.

Anyway, we stood there for a bit and one of the slightly more intoxicated of the group figured we might as well just go in. Most of us stood back and watched as a couple of people went in all covertly, figuring they'll bump into a bouncer and get tossed out shortly after. But nothing.
So we followed, ended up in the back stage lounge and met the band, couple of pictures, hugs n random chatting (D'OSE MUTTON CHOPS). It was at this point I wished I had bought a shirt, my friend who had got hers signed by the entire band Sad We didn't outstay our welcome though, left pretty promptly, then went out and got smashed.

Weird, yet awesome night
