Also just spoke to trigger who said he finished it earlier, he said he didn't dig it, too shootery. I'm thinking if they get rid of the annoying bits from the first one then it should be all good.

Jep its more of a shooter now, some magazines now tend to rate it as a shooter, I can understand that, but on the other side I expected this and its a welcome change for me. Cant really deal with strategic battles like in Dragon age, Im more interested in some action like in Fallout 3. ME1 was the perfect mix, now its more accessable for peeps who dont wanna invest any second in skills an stuff, but its still great.

Triggers a MASSIVE AD&D/RPG fan, if he said its "too shootery" its probably just shootery enough for the rest of us . Plus, I thought that the RPG elements of the first one seemed kind of out of place and always thought it worked better as a shooter then an RPG so I'm not bothered at all by those comments!

As for the DRM thing, they usually say fairily quickly on the Steam store page whats in place so if nothings there at the moment I wouldn't expect there to be any SecuRom or anything.

edit - Whats the friendly AI like abda? Are they less suicidal this time out?

They act smarter now, take cover and stay behind me whenever they can. Depends on your squad mate, if you have a krogan besides you, he will just ran in combat and spread bullets with his shotty while a quarian would always stay behind and do some biotic stuff. Its really cool

Nope, the second looks the same from what I've seen. Dreadful plots.

It's a shame, because the acting and the script is quite good, but the plot itself is just... interstellar beaurocracy! Ancient alien artifact that could bring back the ancient alien race that destroyed the other ancient alien race!

I'm fully expecting to find the thing that the one alien race used originally to stop the other alien race and for the Master Chef to join my party.

I've convinced myself not to buy any more games until I've finished a few of the ones lying unplayed, which should be some time in 2011 at this rate, so I'll probably pick this up when the price drops a bit. And Brahms: not really, at least where I'm up to.

Brahms, all games by Bioware usually follow a similar plot but in different settings. For a sci-fi RPG I find it is a very deeply developed universe they got there. Yes most of it is cliche checklist, but the dialogs and interactions between the different races is what makes it for me. I'm slightly ahead of you (though it depends on where you go next) and there are some twists and some major decisions for you laying ahead, so I'd say it gets better, because you also learn about culture and history of other races (particularly of the races of the people who you got with you on your ship now).

The only thing that bothers me is the gunfights, actually. Can't stand kind of games where some percentages and perks decide if the shotgun slug I just pumped into the head of that monster kills it or just deals 2 damage, which is how the game currently feels to me now. Hearing of ME2 being a better shooter is actually good news for me.

Also STUPID INVENTORY SYSTEM! Everything else is cool (ME1).

I didn't think the story line was too bad, that said I've played nearly every final fantasy game that's been released since 1997. To use that as a yard stick means my standards can't be too high.

Just finished it after 19 hours of playtime. EPIC ENDING. Whats really good: After youve beaten the game you can still use that savegame and do all the sidemissions and explore the planets. N1 bioware
