I think Mass Effect only had SecuRom on the physical version, not on the download version because SecuRom is shitty balls.
Limiting to 5 installs when it's tied to a steam account would be pointless.

From the ME wiki page
"The March 2009 Steam release of the game removes the SecuROM DRM and replaces it with Valve's online distribution and DRM system, which ties the game license to an online user account"
Which is nice.
Chaos is also right about the fucking stupid Borderlands DLC, which now has 3 types of DRM/authentification (Steams own, GameSpy and now SeruRom...epic fail Gearbox).

15Gb disc-space required.... My internet provider screwed everything up here and I have a download of 110kb/s. But I prefer steam versions to securom BS... (and have discs flying around) Why can't I register normal keys with steam... STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!

Why can't I register normal keys with steam... Everytime I buy a retail copy of a game I always try to put the key into steam in a hopeful attempt it'll recognise it. It usually doesn't. *sigh* One day....one day...

But still securom is there... you'll find for example, that steam version of Crysis STILL has it I accept that some games have the steam account stuff... but Securom has NOT been removed for some games! Beware!

I remember my first copy of HL2 had that, or something like that. Either way we installed it once on my dads computer, then when we had to wipe the hard drive, then when we went to re-install it it wouldn't let us. Had to buy the orange box (and thus when I discovered TF2...)

Played it for 15 hours now (my savegame says that). So far, its just epic, the best action-RPG Ive ever played. Dont wanna spoiler too much (eww alien sex), just saying that everything that might have been a bit shitty in ME1 (the combat system, the sometimes-not-so-good presentation etc.) just EVRYTHING is better now. Made a Video to show some of the visual improvements (Warning: Spoiler)
