One last try then - give me £25 for my 3850? Let me open up my p.c later on to see if I do have a 4 pin molex with a 6 pin adaptor. If so I'LL TAKE IT

Woo, got the card.
I un-installed the "on board" card that was on my motherboard, the X1250 and completely got rid of my old ATI CCC thing. Not sure if that was a good idea but the p.c wasn't recognizing the new card without that step being done.
I'm having trouble with the drivers though, midway through the installation I get a message saying
"Set up did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Set up will not exit".
wtf do i doooooo

What Junta said. Don't bother downloading the Catalyst Centre version.
I seem to remember having sound problems the first time I installed my card but I think I installed from the manufacturers disc. If any sound cards are found by Windows when you are installing the card don't install them.

Yep - the 3850 has a HDMI capable audio interface which needs the ATI driver

I used that exact same website, I got the same error when I was trying to download just the Display Driver by itself.

I've used the Catalyst Control Centre.. its more but worked well Also, you may want to use a tool to ensure that old graphics files are completely removed (for the old card): I've not used this but it may work to ensure that you have a "clean" install prior to using the newest ATI drivers: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745Software Description
Driver Cleaner Professional is a program which helps you to remove parts of drivers that are left after uninstalling the old drivers. The program is for ATI, nVidia, Creative, Realtek, SIS, 3Dfx, S3 and more drivers. First you need to uninstall the drivers from the control panel, then reboot. After rebooting, run the program. If you really want a good description of what steps you should take, then you really need to read the readme file included in the zip file and installation as it contains a detailed step by step description. The program also fully supports windows themes and other kind of themesWhat version of windows are you running? Just out of interest, what motherboard are you using (make and model if you know it)
