And with all the trigger-happy linking keep in mind that I will try to buy the screen here in Germany (unless the offer is compelling).
You can buy a screen from an UK site and you might save some money, the pound is very low atm, about the same as the Euro (that's what you use right? or are you on Mark still?)
No, unlike you danes or the island-folk in the UK we jumped into this adventure called EU with no reservations  Grin

Nevertheless, since I'm a pessimist I like to consider what happens if anything is wrong (damages, defects, etc) and dealing with a german company would be much easier than a foreign one. Unless, of course, the price difference was essential.

Hmm, stumbled upon that one:
BenQ FP241W

A bit outside the price range I set for myself, but the specs are looking quite good. Not too fond of the silver frame, though.

It can be peeled off and then you can have a nice yellowish glue surface instead [/I guess]

The Dell 24 inch pivots. When I eventually upgrade to a bigger main screen, I'll use it as secondary pivoted for those extra long spreadsheets.

The screen i linked, the Yuraku, is actually a German brand so I'd expect It's available there.

I'll need to check but I seem to recall that it uses the exact same internals as the Benq FP241W, quality and viewing angles of the screen are great.

edit checked and it does both use the - 24 inch 6 ms (g2g) P-MVA (AUO M240UW01 V0) panel
So you can check out reviews of that to get feedback on the picture quality. Bear in mind that the Yuraku is half the price and the only real difference is that you can't adjust the height using the stand (can tilt it though)

6ms is fine for gaming, I don't notice any ghosting at all on mine.

Yes, it is available here.

Personally I wouldn't call someone who switches out small UPS's an engineer. Especially if they need supervision.

LOL! Engineer is a grand terminology, but easier to say that glorified delivery driver & general dogs body Cheesy

Today went better. Due to an admin cock up the equipment on site was incorrectly identified as something I had in the van. Got to site and found completly different kit. The instructions from the help desk were simple "Fix it", even though I told them that I had never seen this kid of equipment before. So after some head scratching and probing away with a multi-meter the fault was identified as the PC's external PSU. Go get a replacment PSU and behold the till now turns on. End result is site are happy. So all kinds of good. The second site was also fun. The staff were a giggle and I got to play with DOS again. Didn't think there were any till systems still running that OS. Had great fun trying to get my memory to work so that I could remember the commands Smiley Eventualy found that if I took their odd keyboard to bits and blew the crap away from the contact pads that it would work a whole lot better. So all in all a good day. Exposure to two new customers and ther kit.

I wonder what they will want me to do tomorow?

Still collecting information.
Zarf, the Yuraku appears to be a problematic choice. Apparently they ship the monitor with different panels with very varying quality.
Well, I'm not in a rush ...

If it's listed on the website as having 180 / 180 viewing angles, but the product you get has the TN panel and hence shitty viewing angles, you have grounds to send it back at no cost.

If you can, get the store to check the panel version, by holding menu and + . The good one that I have is the AU-M240UW01-V3

Bit of a bump...
Just got my hands on one of these bad boys

got a great deal too.. dell want 175+ on their site, I paid 150 (but had to drive from brighton to crawley for it) from PC World (I know, I know)

Very bright and does full 1920*1080 on 22"
Nice slick looking frame too, not offensive (my samsung is a bit vulgar in comparison)

It's listed for € 260,- on the german website.
I assume it's a TN-panel ...

TBH I'd rather have a PVA-panel. Currently there are two monitors which might be interesting:
- HYUNDAI W241D
- HP LP2475w
Of course they are far more expensive, but the specs are looking good and they should support gaming.
But with prices of € 500+ I will need a few more nights to sleep on it Wink
Then again, seeing how this sector is developing it might be smart to wait a few more months (but then again, when it comes to computer hardware that's eternally true  Angry)
