for my pc. My lovely creative ones are fit for knackers yard, and whilst i don't use them a lot, having someone on skype get louder and quieter over and over is annoying.

What do you lot have? best make within a small budget?  Am i seduced by creative because i know them? Can logitech really make speakers??

I paid £9 for my Labtec ones at Tesco and quite frankley they are better than my £150 creative 6.1 setup.  Creative seem to be trading on the good name they made for themselves in the 80s & 90s

Look up Edifier. Pretty new on the market but awesome value for the price they are asking. Very wide range of products in all price ranges, too and most of them are actually pretty. Yeah.. I know... pretty speakers...

My logictech are cheap and nasty..... usb powered. Volume control is USELESS on them.. either too loud or too quiet.

I've been using Logitech for a while. I too had the Creative iTrigue 3330 speakers. But the volume controller was it's Achilles heel. The plates in the variable resistor would corrode and fail.

Logitech have some nice options out there. I'm sure you'll find something.

Or if your after an alternative, how about some speakers made by Corsair?

Scan are selling them for £38.66 inc VAT. But I'm sure you could find them with other retailers.

M-Audio AV 40's are good for around £100. Or If you want to focus more on Bass try the Acoustic Energy Aego M's.

The M-Audio are good, but not really what hex needs.. overkill.

All the "PC" speakers are roughly the same quality. Pop to your local PC world and plug your iPod into a few sets and see what takes your fancy for the price. Sounds are subjective, everyone likes different music ect..

Unless it's for specific higher end purposes (Audio production ect..) then most reviews aren't worth the time.

My Creatives are starting to head for the bonkers bin as well (the usual volume issue, heh... I vaguely remember someone having found a fix for that?).

I OTOH might be in the market for a pair (or pair+sub) of studio-esque speakers, since I would like to ramp up on the recording and mixing end a bit (for recreational purposes mainly).
