Been browsing the minecraft forums whilst its been down.

When I first read the encyclopaedia dramatica article about Minecraft, I naturally assumed the whole 'people who play this are autistic' jibe was the usual satirised ED stuff.

Having read a few threads, I can see it wasn't that heavily satirised and is somewhat close to the truth.

Finally finished my mountain, needs a bit of landscaping but the result is far better than I expected.

The natural bits look worse than the man made bits.

The dirt for cobble offer has ended.  Thanks to those who contributed.

Still have tons of cobble if anyone is desperate.

We had increasing Alpha numbers, then increasing Beta numbers, then increasing RC numbers, and finally just regular version numbers.

EDIT: Oh, and all the prereleases. And indev, infdev and classic way back when. And now weekly releases with weird indentifiers. Basically Mojang can't figure out how to count.
