you're right in general disco. It's hard to make it not like that tbh. The version you played was most likely massively under developed though.

The reason it's hard to make it not like that is that your entire team is dependant on one another. if 1 person has a bad game, it can make the entire team fail. I believe the biggest reason for this is the stats systems that they use.

Dota, and every single clone/inspired copy of it. That's why people hope Valve can create a better version.
Making gameplay user friendly is one of their core strenghts.

And Hiz you better put money aside, because they even gave you a TF2 hat for playing the free alien swarm. Or preordering L4D2. Or buying L4D2.

If you're on about DotA, you really can't just "compare" it quite like that... it is very much in its own category, you have to play it a fair bit before you "get" what it's about.

It's a tactical single-unit hero battle. You don't get any control over team mates or the army you're fighting with, but can control your hero to a very strong degree and choose items and level up during the battle.

League of Legends is my poison of choice at the moment, actually paid money for it too even though you can just play it for free, because it's very fun playing with people on mumble. Smiley Not having to control a large army, set up bases and have a very interesting experience fighting between different situations keeps me interested, along with a mass of choice regarding the heroes people play.

A Valve version would possibly be neat too - will have to see what the guy comes up with.

Word of warning though, do NOT play League of Legends (otherwise known as ez mode) too much if you plan to get this game, LoL teaches you bad DoTA habits and you will get raged at.

I did play LoL at some point with a couple of friends, I didn't much see the point in it really... It's more of a money-making scheme I guess, since unless you forgo any customization (RPG lol?) you have to invest money.

Maybe I'll try this DotA2 thing if it's not more of this Steam Wallet bullhonkey.
