what i don't get is like, is he just going to bed soon? he could get hardcore and stay up. I listened to his podcast and he said hes got better at leaving fun stuff to the next day so he can keep going, i need to learn this programming skill but at the same time, for a big release i'd do an all nighter. I think for millions of euros we can expect the rare all nighter from him.

From the looks of things, he hasn't really built the game from the ground up with multiplayer in mind, and for that reason, anything he makes is then a massive hassle for him to get working in multiplayer.
Maybe it's for the best. Having hell dimension would have meant the server would have had to run two maps simultaneously as well as having the overworld map considerably increased. With the current performance issues, it could have crippled everything.

'Oh nuts, I can't get the portal to work in SMP in time. I'll add a flag to start in either normal or Nether mode so you can try it in smp'
Thats another thing needed to be fixed in smp.

we can warp just fine though with the admin mod, its not a perfect experience as often we reach the destination before the map loads, but seriously he could just do it like that and fix it to look better later, i'd rather a functional multi than one that looks perfect. I dare say if he doesn't fix it himself soon someone will release a mod quickly to do it dirtily

yes it is but thats what i mean notch should just do a dirty fix now, because the mod authors will this week anyway and in this case it would be better for him to be able to say he did what he could to deliver than have someone else hack it in easily later in the week.

Well on this admittedly weakass computer the game runs much worse than before. Will have to wait until I get back to Cam before trying the update.
