Server updated to 1.6.2.
Herp a derp. Notch's implementation of the nether in SMP is to essentially run 2 server instances at once. Minecraft now uses double the memory than before, probably double the CPU usage if people are on it as well.

Notch = Div1 code genius. Though to be fair I can't think of any other game that allows two levels to be loaded at once.
Hopefully his bug fixes etc will help with server load. I think I saw something about not updating non changed chunks or something in the patch notes?

Not so much of a problem for us, but for server operators selling minecraft servers - to have the server suddenly double it's memory usage is probably is a pretty big deal.

Deaders... there's another update which is meant to fix some CPU utilisation bugs... Might want to deploy it. (At least it's a prompt bug fix..................)

Fixed some block updates not updating lighting properly under some circumstances by reverting the “don’t always send block data” fix in 1.6 Good going there. |

.4 is out that fixes the cpu use bug.
hes still not fixed the problems my brother found, which means we can't mine at the mo and nether exploration is a pain in the ass with the portals connecting wrong
