Definitely not in this case!! I would suggest Mama spends as little as he can get away with. If he's determined to keep both his graphics cards then that makes it a bit more expensive but don't spend anymore than you have to when you have no upgrade routes available. Putting money into a 775 motherboard with DDR2 ram is silly.

I agree with Deadly, get a mobo that will do exactly what you want it to do and no more.  Don't spend money on features you'll never use.  You don't even need decent sound as you have a separate sound card.

Agree strongly. Which is why I suggested ditching one of the GFX cards and going for a more basic (cheap) 775 mobo.

The days of buying a quality mobo and having it last ages are long gone. The new developments mean that older boards (775 specifically) age badly. That said, the 775 has matured enough where most boards (budget ones too) are reasonably good for their job.

I want AMD to announce their new socket before I decide where I am going (PC tech wise) next year. I'm a sucker for price / performance and can't stop looking at the AMD 6 core processor and (the aging) AM3 technology that it runs on. Intel are already churning out another socket for their next gen stuff... I wish they'd slow down just a little bit. There is no need to move this fast when AMD have fallen so far behind in the game.

Unless you're an enthusiast updating every 12-18 months, you may as well just buy brand new. The difference between super pricey £150 mobo and cheapo £30 one is frankly fairly minimal, especially if you don't need the fancy features.

You could always sell your RAM whilst alot of enthusiasts are still using DDR2 (and willing to pay for the better stuff) and get a DDR3 motherboard with 8Gb RAM
