so it looks like they are putting some effort into making culture and diplom less dependant on gold and actually about culture and diplom game systems which is nice. Current system where gold wins all victory conditions sucks. I just hope they bring badly needed depth to the whole thing. And I hope religion gets some effort because its just a vestigial limb atm wagging in the breeze (is shit and does nothing). http://www.civilization5.com/bravenewworld/They got one thing right at least. http://kotaku.com/5992101/youll-soon-be-able-to-use-xcom-soldiers-in--civilization-vI hope theres another expansion to come though, I think its going to take 3 at least to fix civ 5. (to be fair 4 wasn't that great until beyond the sword). An alpha centauri expansion as an added bonus would be mindbogglingly good though.

I really like the direction they are taking with Brave New World. It helps that they are adding the best freakin' Civ ever but, aside from that, it seems that the additional mechanics will make late game more interesting as well as expanding cultural victories. I would appreciate if they would further improve the AI to make the new diplomatic options actually meaningful.

I really hope they sort diplom. Culture and trading routes look amazingly well done and easily the best versions of those systems in any civ game. But diplom always seems to suck. I wish they would update religion and science a bit too. Feel like civ 5 needs one last great expansion after brave new world to make it the best civ game.

Civ 5 Gold edition upgrade is £2.50 (or £7.50 for gold edition if you don't own civ 5) this weekend as well as the free weekend. Gold edition has all the dlc and gods and kings (and probably the soundtrack).
