About 5 or 6 years ago I was doing an upgrade in a pub in Southampton. I was fettaling around with the PC in the office and the manager came bounding in with a big grin on his face. He rummage around in one of the boxes in there and came out with a branded top for the pub. He spake thus...

"Damm! What a shame. Only small ones left."

He then cappered out of the office. He had just hired a young lady with a very ample chest. The poor lass had just about managed to squeeze into it.

Later on, to satisfy my curiosity, I had a look through the box of work tops. There appeared to be a number of medium, large and extra large tops in there. I think the managers eye sight was defective.

I many years ago had a fill in the employment gap job driving a van, delivering car parts. It was weird, all the drivers were girls and the office was full of guys.

My boss only employed girls as drivers as apparently the guys from the garages only wanted to look at women.

Sexist wanker. Needless to say that job didn't last long, funnily enough that wasn't what killed it, it was me saying that i thought holidays should have some payment and that i wasn't working overtime for nothing that got me fired, oh and they were shafting us on wages, we weren't even getting minimum wage.

I must have been the only girl there who knew even half of what she was delivering!!

It seems to be a quite common practice in the motor parts business to hire women to do the parts deliveries.

Maree is pissed off at work at the moment (working with seriously disabled people) because the men are only allowed to work with men whilst the women are allowed to work with both men and women.  This is because apparently men are more likely to abuse their patient.  I think perhaps some staff screening may be in order rather than hiring the first lot of people hanging around the Jobcentre in the morning.

I can imagine working with extremely disabled people is tough work, I worked a few days at a school for very physically and mentally disabled children. It's really tough work, but you see at the end of the day, they're just like you and I.

The mere idea of taking advantage of them is fucking sickening =/

Yesterday I gave out the bills to the parents. Most of the money I get from the youth wellfare office but some money the parents have to pay on their own (food, overtime hours).
Surprise , surprise! The parents of the little girl don't agree with the amount (25 €). That are the same parents I had problems with last month and the month before that and... well nearly every month.

The problem is, that I charged them 12 overtime hours and they only agree with 5.  So I told them why I charged that hours and the mother said: "But why should we have a childminder, if she is not flexible?" I nearly slapped her. You have to know that I get paid from 7.30-13.30 o'clock by the youth wellfare office. It happens at least 4 of 5 days a week that she brings the girl at 7.20 o'clock. I don't say anything because I think you can't really know how long you have to drive and so on. Usually I could charge 1 hour for that each day. But I am nice and flexible.
Then I get a message at 12.30... or 13.15... 2-3 days a week that the mother will be late, if that is okay? Sure it is okay. Because I am nice and flexible.

The problem this time is that there have been 3 days in the last 2 month where she braught the daughter later in the morning and picked her up later. And I charged them overtime hours because I think: We agreed on 7.30-130 o'clock and if she brings her later, her loss. And it was not planned in the morning that she will bick her up later. Again I got messages: Is it okay..... sure because... you know.

So this time they asked if we could sit together on monday and discuss it. I called the youth wellfare office and asked what to do. Unfortunately she couldn't help that much but I know how to do it for now. Now I have to think of terminating the contract with them again. Unfortunaltey I would lose nearly 500 € each month But I would save some nerves..

Sorry I'm just so angry, I had to write it down to think clear again...

Seriously, if the family is causing this much agro, I'd get rid of them.
500€ isn't worth any ammount of arseache, plus you might get a really nice family to replace them .

Hey, how about this one: The next time she asks "Is it OK?" your answer is "Sure, that'll be 1 hour overtime, you're currently at X." (Where X is the amount of overtime they're up to already at that point.)

You will see that when faced with the financial consequences right there and then, she will either say that it's not worth it to her, or pay up. Win-win.

Sorry to hear that Lullaby, we had exactly the same when lynn (the L of mandl) childminded.

We sat them down and having written down the times for a few weeks and proved the core hours were in fact an hour more than agreed.

We also pointed out that when the child was not with us that we could sell that time to another parent so they were paying to reserve that time even if it was not used also we were stood waiting for the child to arrive and had also prepared the early morning meal and everything else from before the allocated time started and did not charge for this as its included in the hours.

After a nice long trip from sunny Cheshire up the M6 for a good 3 hours we're finally at the Centre Parcs village in Penrith.

Was a real puzzle getting all the lights working. Most of the switches are two way so when you turn one switch another switch turns the light you just switched on back off again.

Well I've completed my job in Ringlands Newport. Just got to get a hold of a site to confirme what kind of kit they've got and what exactly is wrong. Then I can head over to Banbury to replace a cash draw. Fingers crossed for Frag Fest. The joys of Friday driving on a grey and drizzely day
