My interwebs went down on Saturday which quite nicely coincided with my mate Plums coming down from Leeds and copious drinking with the Polish lot. We went out for a drink (or 7[teen]) and ended up in a bit of a state. After a couple of drinks back at my place with some of the more hardcore Poles, I went to bed and later heard that Plums had come downstairs, naked, and started chatting up one of my girlfriends friends sisters by going into our fridge and slapping a string of sausages on her face...

The rest of the weekend was spent watching the Aliens films and trying to stop my skin from melting from all the Jägermeister and Red Bull being pumped out of every gland on my body.

I was asleep at the time, but he later told me that he came up behind her when she wasn't looking and flapped them over the top of her head and onto her face.

My counter chair collapsed on me today, now sitting on 2 3 stackable boxes with a chair on top.  Confortable but I think defines the phrase "health and saftey risk"

Scary day. I've been organised and all grown up.

So a long chat with the Halifax. The mortgage is now sorted out again. The 5 years fix is going to expire soon. So various different packages were discussed and I've opted for a 3 year fixed rate that will see me paying £16 extra a month. Just got to wait for the confirmation to come through in the post, then I can give them a call and give it the green light.

Over to Sainsburys, now got food back in the house. YAY!

Changed the water in the fish tank. Fish now happy

I've even done the weekly time sheet for work and updated my monthly mileage log.


So on the "to do" list now. Lets see, have some fun. So with that in mind, and considering that I'm still in a creative mood. I think I'll try experimenting with the TF2 announcer files. See if I can figure out how to get them working in their rough format.

Slightly distracted. Got The Glitch Mob's Animus Vox playing in the background. My imagination has taken a sausy turn with the music. I won't go into details, it's already getting on for being X rated

Fact of life I'm afraid mate, shit breaks 2 days/weeks after warranty runs out . Sell it to a stupid person and get something good with the money.

Even the 5 year warranty against RRoD?

If it's still broken - there's guides on the internet that you can follow that will fix it. I did it to one and it lasted 6 months before it died again.

Basically the processor isn't attached properly and the heatsink causes the board the bend. The heat as it's working softens the solder, and then the bending causes the contacts to break.

Basically you can replace the way the heatsink is attached so it doesn't bend the board, then overheat it like a bastard to re-soften the solder and tighten to get a good connection again.

Well this is great, went to collect jens washing from the laundrette over the road, forgot my keys, now locked out of the flat. So currently en route to Jens work place to steal her keys. To top it off, it's raining an I'm only wearing shorts and a T-shirt

You fail. you forgot the return statement. Or make main a void.

Edit: (Ok, technically, some languages (Perl comes to mind) return the value of the last statement of the block if no return statement is given. Still that'd be a reference to the cout object, which is not really a good return value...)

Even more edit: Sorry, I didn't mean to be mean. It's only the start of your first year, so you're still allowed to do stuff like that.

You start with C++? Back in my days we learnt programming with Turbo Pascal, on DOS machines, but did we complain? NO! Kids nowadays....

Don't be scared away from programming. The first language is by far the hardest and there are much simpler languages than C++ out there...
