Baby Lucy is in hospital at the moment because the midwife came round and was worried about her jaundice and not drinking enough.
Cue trip to very depressing childrens ward 2 very nice doctors (one who becomes a GP in a month and was very happy about it) who struggled to put valve in her hand so they could get blood samples whenever they want. Her hand is so small that her wristband that slipped off fitted round my thumb.
Then an awful 4 hour want for a room which needed "deep cleaning", I really hate to think what had happened there.
Hopefully they will decided there is nothing wrong with Lucy and send her and her mum home tomorrow.
Waiting for the mum in law who was babysitting to be picked up so I can join the frag fest.

Best wishes for Lucy Milli - remember that the kids are much tougher than you think Children's wards and (the children's ICU) are frightening places - have sadly been to both.

Good news, Lucy is looking a more normal colour after being under sun lamps for 24 hours and is taking her feeds properly. Been in hospital all day with wife and daughter, fortunately the kids ward has decent size freeview TVs instaed of the awful rip off Patientview rubbish.
Massive wins on nappy roulette as she brings up (or is it down) the remainder of the evil green birth poos.
They are talking about maybe letting her home tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for all your support. Lucy and mum are now finally home. Hopefully things will start to get back to normal now.
Our home seems so cold after spending all day in hospital. The staff there do horrific shifts. The nurse who was looking after Lucy started her shift at 8pm and was still there when we left just before 4pm the next day.... and she was 6 months pregnant. The doctor who we saw most of was doing 16 hour shifts and lived about 50 miles away.

Dont get me started on defending the NHS!
I know it's not perfect but when you live in another country with out free medicare and you are in need of med care, then you then get to appreciate free med care. (and yes I know it's not free free but we pay such a small amount towards it)

Its quite alot Tax wise when you consider the price of private medical insurance.

I'm not saying the NHS is bad, I think it's brilliant, the problem is one you enter the system either as a patient or staff you are just a number in the machine until you get spat out the other end. I don't think anyone fuctions well at the end of a week of 16 hour shifts either.
It beats the US system when you either pay health insurance (about £500 a month for a family) or gamble on not getting ill and loosing everything to pay the hospital bills if you get ill.
