I think the PowerColor one comes with Dirt 2 (and they're usually the cheapest.. no difference in performance)

ordering the xfx 5850 from dabs works out as 170 before vat so as its a little over my tech pot share it will set me back a whopping £14.

its out of stock but expected in the next couple of days ill let you know how it goes when it arrives.

Personally i wouldn't buy from dabs, i've seen a lot of items listed as due in a few days or the next day but never actually appear for weeks, or not at all.

I just have issues with the ATI drivers, which suck. If any card nVidia did at £200 was near to the 5850 performance wise, I'd go for it in an instant.

Frankly I'll probably do so once/if nVidia do get their act together and sell my 5850, just on the driver basis. I don't know how but the control panel has got WORSE then it is in XP, which is astounding. Wink Depends if nVidia come up with much though.

The eyeinfinity thing also works, but only with at least one monitor having a DisplayPort input (~£500 - £1000 depending on size...) or you getting a converter (~£100), which is annoying (and sold out anyway right now), but worth keeping in mind if you have the space.

Didn't think it was a Win7 issue, I remember it looking like the old one (rather bad) when I was already using Win7, then about 2 updates ago it changed to look like it is now (superbad). Did you have current drivers in XP?

oh and im running win 7 retail fully updated so hopefully i wont have too many issues. im worried about going for the ati now. Maybe i should see if i can change the order to a gtx275.

I will only be running a single monitor and may run it hdmi rather than dvi as my monitor has that input option.

Nah it's not that bad, it just completely unintuitive. When you're first all set up it's alright, as you won't have to go there often.

I've got the 9.10 drivers installed on this machine I'm typing on due to my new PC acting up Wink I think I can tell the difference between them. I think Vista upwards gets the "new" version.

i work as a developer and support engineer for a call recording company.

note: there was a job going at my place a few weeks ago and i asked if anyone near manchester was looking for a job

oh and the card i ordered on dabs now says 3-4 weeks. when i ordered it said 1-2 days before its in stock so hopefullly that was the last of the batch they are due in otherwise il have to wait a while Sad

I'm not saying the current XP and Vista/Win7 versions aren't different, mate, I'm saying that they were the same earlier, when I first installed Win7 RC and they changed the Win7 look (never had Vista) just recently, I think with 9.7 or 9.8. I had an older version installed first (I think 9.5) and it looked like XP, then I downloaded the newer one and it looked even worse. My second PC with XP is running Nvidia, so I wouldn't know how the current Ati drivers look there.

Yes. When they actually have the stock dabs is pretty good, but if they don't then they'll just take your money and pretend to do something about it.
