EDIT:
The same site also has a similar product, but with two important changes: (About the same price)
1. This one has SLI 4870HD cards instead of the 4890HD Smiley
2. This motherboard only supports DDR2 RAM Sad
Zelda: Link: http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=332714

Hi guys, i have located a computer (parts only) that I want to buy, but as I don't know that much about specific computer parts, I could use some help or suggestions.
Thing is, the parts come in a package that is put together by the site, so i can't change any parts. If I wanted to do that, I would have to buy each part separately.
So, how does it look?

Things that I have in mind:
0.0 I already have a mouse, keyboard, headset and screen/display(the thing that provides visual contact with the computer)
0.1 I think I will go for 32bit win 7 for now, as I will still use much 32-bit software (even some 16-bit!).

1.0 I will use the computer primarily for gaming.
1.1 I do plan to game quite heavy games like say, Modern Warfare 2 and Starcraft 2 and TF3.
1.2 It should be able to use "high, but not highest" graphical settings, and still have top performance (40fps+).

2.0 In a few years I would like to only have to replace a few parts, and still have a good computer, instead of buying a new rig.

3. The prettiest girl in the world. (Just daydreaming, read: fiction)

4. I appreciate this community. For real.

Here is the link to the computer parts (norwegian site):
http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=344159

BTW, 7000kr = about 1250$ = about 760£

You know 64 bit windows runs 32 bit applications? It is only the drivers (and terrible, terrible driver signing) that restricts a few things Smiley

Perhaps look up the prices in your country for the i5 + motherboard + some RAM + a graphics card + a hard drive. These are the things I got. Miss out the SSDs and half the RAM and it might be more around your price range, although Windows 7 adds a bit more on top.

Unfortunately you can't run 16 bit apps on x64. Was a PITA during my placement, we had to keep some 32 bit servers kicking around because the school database (SIMS) still has some legacy 16 bit code impacted in it's bowels.

more on topic, If you really want something that'll still be high end in a few years, you should look at getting an i7 platform and a Radeon 5870 (DX11).

How are you finding your setup with the SSD's btw Final? Probably just as well you ordered when you did as they've gone up in price again (£144 for 64GB now! they were £102 when they launched in summer, damnnit Apple!)

I'll try and look more carefully later, but back when Komplett used to sell to the UK their bundles were usually pretty sensible - not great savings, but well chosen parts.

I'm gonna have to appologise for my complet lack of understanding of language.

If I'm reading this right, then I think the bundel has the following...

Inneholder:

375683 - In-Win J649 ATX MidiTower Black, without PSU USB2.0, Audio, Airduct, 120mm fan
386808 - Chieftec Smart Series 550W PSU ATX 12V V2.0, Standard, 2x 6pin PCIe, 4x SATA, 120mm Fan
488303 - AMD Phenom II X4 945 3,0Ghz, AM3, 8MB, 95W, Boxed
490212 - Gigabyte GA-MA790GPT-UD3H, Socket-AM3 AMD 790GX+SB750, ATX, DDR3 , Firewire, GbLAN, PCI-Ex(2.0)x16
340915 - Crucial DDR3 1066MHz 4GB KIT, CL7, Kit w/two matched DDR3 2GB, 240pin
490457 - Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express 2.0, DVI-I, native-HDMI, HDCP, DisplayPort, Lite-Retail
478452 - Seagate Barracuda® 7200.12 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s, 32MB, 7200RPM
436591 - Samsung DVD±RW burner, SH-S222L/BEBE Dual, Lightscribe, Black, IDE, Bulk

I'd say that's a realy nice bundle. Although I've never understood ATI cards, so I asume it's good as it has the "HD" thing going on.

I'm not to sure but I think kr 6,995 = £766.

this
the 4890 was the flagship card untill the 5870 came along... you'll get great frame rates in every game with it..
overall, that's a really nice rig Smiley
to see the full potential in tf2 though, you will need to OC the cpu Sad

@Magathery: That's right.

@64-bit: I read that 32-bit programs MIGHT actually run a little slower on 64-bit. But anyways I will probably use it for some old games too. But will 16-bitapps work with DosBOX in 64-bit windows?

Slower: http://www.w7forums.com/windows-7-64-bit-vs-32-bit-t484.html
Dosbox: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Talk:Basic_Setup_and_Installation_of_DosBox#Why_only_Windows.3F

@Final: I couldn't seem to find both the RAM and mobo here in norway on the "usual" sites, but i found:
- i5 750: about 155£ on the cheapest.
- 5850HD: The XFXcard was on above 220£, but other brands (like Gigabyte and PowerColor) were about 20£ cheaper. I've heard that there shouldn't be that much of a difference between them; Is there?
- 5870HD: Above 300£.
- I guess I'll stick with a non-SSD harddrive.

Thanks for the opinions guys&girls!
BTW: Edited top post.

Personally I'd avoid SLI (I never like to have hardware that only a minority of people have and that won't be as well tested when it comes to shipping games) - but I might be being mr cranky as normal there Smiley

Unless the clocks are different, there is NO difference between a powercolor/gigabyte/xfx card. a 5870 is a 5870 unless its an OC card which usually results in poor cooling and crashes

Same applies to all GPUs

also, it is better to have 1 good card over 2 average cards.. having 2 ubercards cant be beat though Smiley

Shame about 16 bit apps yeah. Old school stuff though there Wink (low level serial cable usage if I recall for one).

The SSD's, well, I'll detail a ton of stuff in another thread with my ongoing i5/Windows 7/ATI battle, but the SSD's do not work well with the Intel onboard RAID 0, and I'm not going to bother to get a RAID card for it (since I quite presume it'll end up the same), so I've decided to do the drives separately, which is fine - Win7 + XP + Paging file + Programs will be hitting the limit of one drive, so the other can be games dedicated.
