Like I said - the fusion reactors / test platform energy thing are the only things there that I would consider 'out-of-place' - and I already mentioned the rockets - and they're not futuristic/sci-fi considering the art style is 20th century / 60's industrial/engineering.

I dunno, I always liked the way Nucleus look different yet it felt like it fit the style.

What I really don't like is how the colorful shots look like crits.

No, what I'm saying is that having transmitters/satellite dishes and rockets in a 20th century themed art style is fine. Having guns shooting lasers and balls of energy or whatever is not when all of the other weapons are shooting 20th century bullets and rockets.

It would be like playing a WW1/2 shooter and suddenly you start getting shot by Javelin guided missiles and calling in UAV strikes?!?

I don't even mind that much, and to be fair - I think TF2 lost it's artistic direction a long time ago.

Frankly the gun looks a bit weak (quite rightly), although it's hard to tell watching someone play dumb bots. I can imagine it's going to get annoying being killed by it from across the map, though.

What I think Deadly is saying (or atleast thats what IM thinking) is that TF2 had a solid and really cool artstyle when it first came out. Once they added all those silly hats and weapons it didnt really look like the game whose look I used to love. I agree that it lost its art direction a long long time ago (I would say when the classless update came out with all those weird looking hats, the ones they added in the sniperspy update were fine for me).

i just got a bison in a drop the projectile is waaaay slow, and i still hadn't killed a level 1 sentry after 3 full clips. If you are using the cow mangler as well your only defence vs sentry is to deplete your rocket launcher of ammo, thats a pretty big debuff to the soldier. and the bison is easily dodged. So while the weapons don't have that many negatives in red letters i don't think they are quite as op as they initially appear.

Everything behind the scenes in the maps is very futuristic also there are computers, giant lasers and the engineer can project a forcefield around his sentry. Plus there has been sci-fi ray guns since long before the 50s (since war of the worlds in the 1800s I think).

Also they're super cool looking Cheesy

Godammit. Ok, I'm giving up on this now. Just as I was kind of thinking 'well you could probably build most of the stuff in TF2' (i.e. sentries, most of the guns / scenery etc.)

but yes...the sentry forcefield and teleporter might cause some trouble!
