Had a glance on walkway. The fire rate is still the same. It's still stupid.
All the nerf did is make you run out of metal faster when you destroy a projectile. It costs extra metal per projectile destroyed per shot. So if you destroy 2 projectiles in a single shot it costs 35(?) metal.
It works as +15 metal per projectile destroyed I think.

Hmm....what will this mean for us?
Apparently this is a tick box option but it's on by default.

I suppose we'll get an indication tonight but it might mean all us TF2ers will need to put work in spamming friends lists etc if we're going to manage to keep the server full

Well thanks Valve for shitting all over community servers (in general). I think this was an attempt to stop new players being sent to servers with Pinion (the in-game advertising) and servers that can run crazy game modes and still be included in Quickplay.

I never thought Quickplay really did that much for us anyway (as I've said, repeatedly).

They've also apparently thrown up a whole load of official Valve servers.

To be honest, I think that actually for us it could be a good thing. Servers without strong communities (or servers run for/by Pinion advertising profits) or those that rely on advertising revenues will be shut down as they don't get Quickplay traffic any more (from new/inexeperienced players) so there will be fewer of these low quality servers and that increases our chances of attracting the players that have graduated from 'quick match' and are using the server browser. The very fact that we'll be able to weather the storm might lead us to plain sailing.

I agree, but still think that means we will have to work harder to get word out about the server and the community.

Quickplay was always hit and miss but last Friday and on Tuesday we kept going until, what 11.30-12ish (?) and I'm pretty sure most of the players that arrived were via Quickplay though of course now we'll find out:

Were the players that connected to us Quickplay users or Browser/word of mouth players?

(someone suggested that part of the Quickplay algorithm, as was, sent players with a lower number of hours to Valve servers and then to community servers..which of course were frequently the ad-ridden, bot-filled rubbish, premium servers)

But the whole idea was supposed to be that it was reputation based - players who stayed on the servers for longer and revisited were supposed to boost the reputation of the server to improve the rating and servers that ran ads & had bots didn't retain players for long and this had a negative impact on the servers reputation.

Maybe their algorithm for this was just fudged - I swear I never really noticed it change.

We can see how it goes but we could consider reducing the max player count to 24. If people start searching for servers using the browser again, they may set that to 24 to weed out the 32 spam fests.

Opinions on weapon changes
Short Circuit - still doesnt address the current problem with the weapon (firing speed)

Cleaner's Carbine - aww, I liked being able to railgun medics with my piss rifle after getting carbine crits... this change seems otherwise pointless though

Reserve shooter - An unnecessary buff. the damned thing was powerful enough (especially in omni's hands...)

The rest (other than the quickplay stuff which has it's own thread) is just standard bugfixes and a couple more irrelevant weapon tweaks from what I can see

Just as a point of information.

In the last update:

 -Quickplay now has an option to include servers with the server tag for "nodmgspread"

The last step now is the inclusion of servers with class limits!
