I think that like a medic and engy has a lot to give the team, they both need constant protection from their team mates to get the best of them, maybe this is where we have fallen down lately and why our faithful engy's feel the spies are getting the better deal. I know when I have played engy in the past it is very difficult if you don't have someone else to back you up.
Teamwork should solve the problem and make it harder for those pesky spies.

Disagree on Jarate. But then again I don't play spy.
Since the buildings are very strong the engy consequently has been designed very weak.
Have you not been shot by the engie shotgun recently?

Ask Cruel about my bat, srsly.
It's long and hard and each time he gets it out I have to lay down whether I want to or not. Once he uses it there is a lot of pain involved

I'm jumping into this thread late and I've only skimmed most of it but I think I'm with Tea, the Spy does seem to overpower the engie these days. I'd argue that the Spy is over-powered full stop since his update but I'm not really qualified to make that call. However, I do know a thing about engineering and defending against spies (my absolute favourite TF2 pastime) and they can certainly rip my setups in a way that was never previously possible. But the Engie needs an update... Where's that fucking water cannon I ordered last year?

As a spy it always seems that an SG is either fairly easy to take (average engie on his own) or near impossible (pyro and heavy camping the dispenser next to it). I'm not the worlds greatest engineer either but at times it just feels pointless as your stuff is destroyed in 2 seconds, or you can just sit there forever unthreatened.

Personally, while I sympathise with the irritating job of the engineer, I don't think that the spy is overpowered against the engineer at all, really. It's not as easy as it looks to stab and sap an engineer nest single handedly. I think if the balance was changed in favour of the engineer at all at the moment it could potentially damage the role of the spy.

Reports of my skill are greatly exaggerated. Reports of your inability to stay dead, however, are not!
