I should probably apologize for pushing this back on topic. £300 is kind of an awkward budget though as its more than enough to upgrade your current machine (which as mentioned earlier is likely to only be a short term fix) but not enough to buy a fully fledged new PC. I'd probably recommnd putting up with your rig for another couple of months and saving for a bigger budget of around £400-£500, i did however have a scout around to see what you could get for £300 and its not all bad. Now im well aware of the drawbacks of this build (single channel RAM, mATX board) and like i said i'd save up more and do it properly but if you were desperate for a new PC now on only £300 it can be done. You could even save yourself some cash on this by taking the HDD and DVD drive from your current rig. It dosnt include a case (as that comes down to personal taste) but you could pick up a fairly cheap one for less than £20 as heat shouldn't be an issue with this build. I'd be questionable just how 'future proof' this'd be but for £300 uve got a rig that will play modern games and be easy to upgrade with a new CPU and Gfix card over time. Man.....i should probably get a job or something....

Is that 1 Danish mark? Like you! *boomboom* edit - Just realised that joke totally failed as the Danish use crowns, not Marks My bad.... Nope it is the .50 crowns. I decided on a short term fix (graphic card upgrade) and then I'll wait around 6 months and then I might have about £600.

I was going to suggest you get yourself a decent graphics card (and maybe a PSU if you need it) - that way - it'll be significantly better on your current PC, and then when you build a new one - you can just pop it into your shiny new self-built pc.

But but power supply...and 6 months before I get enough to buy stuff for a new one!

Looking at the price of PSUs it would be cheaper to hire someone to stand there waving a fan over my machine! Edit: Although if that were true I'm sure Chaos would've suggested it

It's 20 quid a day for you to stand nekkid next to my rig doing helicopter impressions but I'll take less if you can't afford that

I made my rig from scratch (plus my old CPU and HDDs) for £350 from ebuyer. Here are my specs:
CASE Coolermaster Centurion 5 Silver MOTHERBOARD Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 iP35 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard PROCESSOR Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz (2 CPUs) MEMORY Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz POWER OCZ Stealth XStream 600W PSU COOLING Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro
£350, inc VAT. Just shop around on ebuyer and you can get some rite deals.
Incase you're not too tech-friendly, I can run TF2 on full settings at 1280*1024 with 50-70 FPS (I don't see the point in upping the resolution, because the framerate drops below 40 at times).
That was bought last year in January, so you should be able to get much better for the same price these days.
