I was only joking bout the spawn camping FD
To be honest, I enjoy the game in all situations whether it's being pwned constantly (usual case), spammed, spawn camped,winning or losing. There's always something funny to keep me entertained  especially on our server

And thats why you are a legend.

Anyway, Teatime, I disagree that while you might see a poor spy, scout or sniper perform poorly (thus the "exponential skill increase"), any mastered class is as good as any other with in their role. It just so happens the Spy and Sniper are excellent at killing things (instant kills) but are crap at actually winning a map except defensively, and the scout does the opposite almost and can be one of the lowest killing classes but ultimately actually has skills no one else has for achieving a win. All 3 take different kinds of skills (with the sniper requiring almost more map knowledge then the engineer to be effective).

I wasn't trying to put those classes above the others, because in the end you need the right mixture of classes to succeed. To be trivial: The whole (of the team) is more than the sum (personal skill) of its elements.

Perhaps I'm biased in my judgment about those 3 classes: I suck on all of them (while I'm just terribly mediocre on the others) and in the hand of a skilled player I fear those classes more than the others.

(I wonder if I'm getting smited for going ontopic ...)

Can I just say that I saw many WDG trying out demo man with success on the 3rd stage of Dustbowl last night!

You guys were very good - planted traps and used pipes to good effect. Occasional spam fire - which on that level I think is very legitimate

Sadly, as I was on attack I was on the receiving end of all this (gits). I can see however that the number of demo men in the clan will grow

Oh god, third dustbowl stage, last cap, defensive demo spamming down the two straights is almost hilariously effective. Most of my dodging-as-a-medic skill comes from there.

The original TFC Dustbowl was one of the best for experiencing total spam..especially the last stage

Sorry claws I wasnt trying to call soldiers noobs.... hzza has prompted me to use better words....

Soldier is a class that does take skill to master but its also a class that is used for his simplicity.  The learning curve for soldier is easy to begin with and hard to master at the end.  Which is why people who are new to the game (or just not good) play him and engi as a majority as they are easier and less frustrating.  (I am not discounting that to be a GOOD soldier takes a lot of skill). Demo, Spy, and sniper are the opposite they are hard to learn to begin with but get easier.  You cant just pick up the demo and play it takes time even to get the basics of how to use him.  Which is why people simply stop using him if their first couple of experiences were crap, as in hzzas case

The damage dealt graph shows Soldier on top with Rocket Launcher.  A little bit of proof (for me) about demo NOT being too overpowered - his weapons are currently 4th and 5th behind flamethrower and minigun. A simple interpretation I know.. but solider being #1 on the damage chart is an interesting point.

For those who moan about crits and demo men - look at the "% of attacks critical" stats - also interesting. Demo looks in line with soldier etc.

Do note that spy has -80k points so stats =/= reliable.

The weapon stats always look a bit like that, but if you add the damage from both weapons together you get just over the soldier's damage. The shotgun isn't really an equivalent to the demo's secondary...
