I've played this to death. Still playing in fact. It does feel as good as Oblivion - if not better - early on but it runs out of things too soon. Like levels and like quests. Why all those locations and goodies and nothing attached to them Quest/story wise? Strikes me as budget slashing.

And it's got a shit ending. So probably a 7/10 for me.

Completely agree with Gas. The problem is, if you do a few side quests you gain too much, too early, and there really doesn't seem much point in exploring the countless tiny villages. They don't offer anything I don't already have.

Also, the game wants you to use repair/lockpicking/etc. Most of the skills seem comparatively useless, so it's hard to imagine an alternative way of playing. I suppose I could play 'evil' but I never enjoy that.

And the ending really annoyed me. Depending on how you did it, there's a huge 'BUT' that just seems to totally ruin it. 7/10 seems fair, in the long run - it's good, but it doesn't have the life that Oblivion did.

I bet the DLC is going to be part shit part brilliant additions like Oblivion [Horse armor?!]

Check the prices of the DLC I bet. I'll likely not get it for the PC version I have (go mods!). The game is very enjoyable in it's free roaming style, although I think I'll have to knock the difficulty up soon.

I'm glad I read the Fallout 3 wiki though. Companions, books, mini sidequests and unexplained details from the main plot are good to know, since I'm at the "tipping point" - I am far enough in to get everywhere and do everything, but go much further and the game ends (sigh).

I have spoiled a few things for myself though, but oh well, like Oblivion I don't mind missing some of the crap

The radio soundtrack is great too. Shame I couldn't find an easy tutorial to add more songs easily, sigh.

Look at the new mission. Theres a video of it on there somewhere as well. Looks pretty sexy, might be worth checking out just to get a bit more longevity out of this mother! Does anyone know how you can get the DLC for the PC if you actually bought the CD (rather then DL it from Steam/Windows)?

Although it does look shiny (bought this the other day, so I'm not needing anything new any time soon) I should probably point you to here before try to buy it. Partially because you'll probably need the advice it gives to find it in the first place.

I want this add on but it's been made way too complicated to even find, let alone download, I'll stick with player mods which are easy to install.

Can anyone recommend any good mods?

I'm playing through largely focusing on the plot as a shining good character (only bad moment so far was accidentally informing a slave trader there was an escaped slave he didn't even know of hanging around) then doing things a little more evilly the next time round. I keep glancing at the cannibalism perk and salivating slightly.

Anyway, the second time through I'm planning on trying a couple of mods, using 1fort as a rough guide.

I used a mod which improved the UI (like putting the rad info on the health screen) and expanded the text options box (whew). I also have a follower and trader mod which makes them plot (so they don't die, although I did that manually for my guys anyway) and allows me to unequip their armour and weapons too (apart from their normal ranged weapon).

Apart from that, I expect I'll finish the game before installing more - there's no major ones I've seen that are "Must haves" - like new quests, or anything.

The one thing I would like is the ability to easily add more hot rocking beats to Galaxy News Radio, but after fruitlessly searching for hours there is no easy way, so I gave up (although some of the radio stations on Project Nexus sound good, I didn't bother trying any of them). I wish they had this in by default.

Still need to finish some major things before I check out the ending, hmm, what to do next... what to do next...
