Okay, I just finished Dloading the game (legally) for my friend, he will be back in a week or so. Till then, I have a chance to play it. Just done with the tutorial. It's defo not fallout 1/2, but still might be good. Combat is static and boring so far though.

Maybe the fights are getting more interessting when you are on a higher lvl.

Played to megaton
Love the art style and quality, not too keen on the combat, especially real time. ATM i seem to just be running away until my AP regenerates so i can go into VATS and actually kill something.
Diddn't like the combat in morrowind/oblivion either and it feels like that.

I'm not sure which way I'll go yet with regards to good/evil, usually prefer to play good but since the game gives negative karma for theft (which is one of my fave parts of fallout) i think i'll end up negative anyway so may as well blow some shit up on my way to hell.

I'd enjoy to put armed grenades in peoples pockets all the time...really that's what my game would be all about, and killing all the NPCs that are important to the story...unless they've made them invincible like in Oblivion...

Yeah, Fallout 3 seems to me to be really good. The combat system is a bit clunky at times, but the cool slow-mo bits are pretty awesome. Interesting take on the tutorial - playing as a kid for a bit. Graphics pretty good.

Think I might enjoy this game.

Am really loving this game it's better than Oblivion (and I loved Oblivion), it doesn't take itself too seriously and I love the 1950s style.  Runs perfectly on high on my ageing PC too.

Have just arrived at Rivet City and found a quest ripped straight out of Bladerunner.

A tip for anyone going to the Museum of Technology, don't try and go overground, you can take a subway which takes you under The Mall.  There is also a settlement there when you can restock.  Don't do what I did and take on the entire quest with no health and only ammo for a hunting rifle.

Has anyone nuked Megaton?

I've gone through this time as a gun slinger/do gooder so didn't blow up Megaton, but I've just hit Lvl 20 (why cap it there?!) and am probably going to restart as a bad ass gangsta and blow it up. I've heard that the cut scene when you do nuke it is reason enough to bork the rest of your game!

edit - Do anything you can to get the railway rifle early doors, that thing is epic, well worth a detour Wink

You get the arming mechanism from a guy in a light suit in the Megaton bar.  You can also tell the local Sherrif about said guy.  I did and.... well... not the result I expected.

Blowing up megaton is promissing but the city is worth much more if it is left alive, you can just kill everyone but the doctor and that adventure guy in Tenpenny Tower (lovely place Smiley) to get all the rooms for you self (or you can let the gouls in and get that awesome mask)
