Yep, Penryn is the name for the 45nm CPU manufacturing process.
Nehalem is the next thing form intel. I suspect it will tie in with Larabee (Intel's new GPU) and Windows 7 (sorry to all those saps that bought Vista, but it's about to be superceded!).

Aye, i'm shocked that you're not waiting for nehalem, theres no great improvments over the core2's in gaming performance, but overall system performance is much better, and from what i've seen they clock really well.
Just thinking that if you're going to build a new rig, you may as well go for the new architecture so you've got an upgrade path.

Also, Vista FTW ... especially when you get it for free Cheesy
