Hmmm... Well maybe not as a replacement for any weapon, but an addition?
We know from the engy that more weapons than 3 are possible.
Maybe a weaker shotgun in order to make way for carrying some sandviches?

I know me and Jordan have been waiting all night for this, and here it is, the Monday update.

Plus it's the one we've all been waiting for, the new scenario "TF2 Arena" (as i recall, someone called this a little while back, in which case, kudos to you)

The details are so massive for me to simply copy and paste so I'll give the low down.
Arena features small maps that has only a single centre control point which is only made available after first 60 seconds of combat. The round is won by either one team eliminating the entire opposing team, or the point being captured.
And that's pretty much it! The update also brings two new maps including Lumberyard, which boasts little areas of water (so pyros, GO NUTS!) and only one health pack, so medics and dispensers are a must! along with Ravine, which is far more open and may turn into a sniper (reVert) and a spys (hopefully, me) wet dream.

PLUS, Well, granary and badlands are also being converted into arena maps, HAPPY DAYS!

This new concept isn't all that suprising but I look forward to trying it out after playing the same maps over and over again.

I suspect we'll hear of the "sandvich" update tomorrow. Cheesy

It'll be nice to have a good map for when the server is quiet - 3v3 balancing sounds good Smiley ATM i'm thinking Sniper is going to be godly here - People you kill can't give away your location or go after you in revenge!

Sure, I felt a little reminded of CS at first too, but then think about it:

CS does not have all the class choices, so you don't only need to kill the other team, but pick a most effective way to do so. This might end up a little random at first, but I'm sure there'll be nice tactical choices about.

CS has an option for the other team to win (i.e. by defusing the bomb), which makes rounds longer, and in my experience the battle for bomb sites is not that fierce (one T might sneak the bomb in)... I expect the battle for the respective cap in Arena to be much more intensive.

We'll see how it goes. Grin And I want to know what that friggin sandvich is about. Tongue

That worries me too! Part of the reason that you get idiots on CSS is that they have to wait to re-spawn in the next round. People get more wound up and you see more abuse etc.

I always liked TF2 for the re-spawn, it means you're back in the game quicker and idiots are focusing on playing again as opposed to focusing on the manner in which they died etc. The arena may also penalise specific classes - pyro and scout maybe, because these classes can die quickly in normal games (for the benefit of the team).

Not liking the look of arena maps at all....

Is Arena mode no-crit then? It'd be annoying to be permanently taken out by a stray sticky if you were the team engie/medic.

Not sure how I feel about Arena mode yet, will probably have to try it first.

Oh the look on and by itself is quite alright, I like that mountainous setting, could very well see other types of maps using the same look... Grin

We'll see how it plays out... We can always opt not to include the maps into the cycle. (Maybe the Arena mode was made to lure CSS players over. Tongue )
