With the prospect of a Heavy Update coming forth next week, this is the place we should discuss it, I guess.
I wonder why nobody has started a thread yet...

So the things that have been revealed up to now:

• New Map: steel - How do you like it? Have you even played it? Should we give it a whirl before the update?
• New Weapon: K.G.B. - How often do you actually punch people?
• New Achievement names - I think I'll try Pushkin or Stalin the Kart in the coming weeks...

For me: Played Steel, quite alright, a bit confusing at first.
For the Killing Gloves of Boxing i guess this says it all.
And I looove the achievement names. Though that's only because I enjoy bad plays on words, for which I should be PUNished.

So what do your .02€ say? Oh, wait... Well... never mind...

I think the fists are pretty much useless, will be nice to have for those once-every-48-hour-punches but apart from that not great.

Never played steel though, it sounds decent from the description as I've never played it, but can see how it would lead to confusion.

As for achievements, I'd like to know what they are first before aiming for any, but I like the names Don't Touch Sandvich and Icing on the Cake (both food related ).  I think the first one will be intel related, and the second one probably number of kills.

Love the achievement names, very clever... 'Spyalectical Materialism' made me laugh out loud, worryingly.

Thought Steel was confusing, overlarge and generally massively overrated. It's smart but it didn't do much for me at all so far. Haven't played it for a while though. I think KGB could be a help for heavies on their own, so perhaps not a bad thing.

Steel is very confusing. A clever map but really needs big server population. Can't see us liking it. But, good that valve are adding to stock maps.

I didnt like steel much - and yes it could be tried out.

I hardly ever punch as heavy - just too slow. It also looks like you're taking the piss tbh, plus if you have to change back to mini-gun it just takes too long to spin the gun back up to speed.

Agreed. I cannot stand the way that these updates have been drip fed. For publicity, its great. For playing, it ruins the game lots. They should release in pairs in my opinion.

That said, spy's or sniper's dream? Server full of heavies. Medics should be safer too, and pyros will take a beating. People will learn how hard it is to play heavy.. especially without support from other classes.

Aye, I thought pairs would be good, but it would be interesting challenge to balance them so you don't get one class being the arch enemy of the other. For example you couldn't release Sniper and Heavy at the same time as most competent players would likely go for the sniping option. Maybe Soldier and Engineeer would work? Soldiers can take out Sentries from a distance if they're poorly placed, but if they're placed with more thought the Soldier can't get away quick enough if he's caught by one.

why not 1 unlock for all remaining classes and then the first 10 achievements for each and nothing more until the next update

i'm looking forward to playing sniper, hopefully it will be more balanced than when the pyro update first came out, it was like a night in hell's kitchen.

i'm at reading festival for that free weekend anyway so i'm having more fun than the combined TF2 community together

I intend to run BEHIND the masses of stupid heavies, then camp your sniping grounds

We'll see who fares better when we're eye to eye (my mini-gun or your sniper rifle!!!)
