Highly recommend this to anyone with a 360 here. Very beautiful game with alot of detail and an interesting gameplay mechanic. I powered through this with my brother yesterday in around 7 hours, and thats just the mandatory stuff you need to collect. Theres supposedly a ton of hidden stuff in this, QR codes, little riddles and whatnot, basically a giant ARG and just as of yesterday people have solved the last puzzle in this game. Not really into decrypting all of it, but just the collecting of the cubes itself is more than worth it. Pretty much the best game Ive played this year.

i wish ms would make xbla multiplatform already (fez and a ton of xbla titles are xna which has a windows runtime...), i mean gfwl sucks but i might actually have to start taking it seriously if i could get fez and stuff without having to wait a year for it to hit steam.

Its 800 points and yes you dont need gold brahms. Id say its fun to watch, I was playing mostly while my brother was watching and helping me with puzzles and he enjoyed it.

man the fez developer really is a dumbass/douchebag. I still really want to play his game and will throw money at him as soon as its on steam but goddamn. Apparently hes paid money to get on xbla and is now whining about the patch certification costs that everyone knows about after he released a broken patch. Hes going on about how he wouldn't have to put up with this shit on steam. He only refused to go to steam in the first place because he was smelling his own farts about how its a console game, and pcs suck.

Microsoft still charge a stupid amount but i don't see that changing anytime soon. Any why would you pick xbox over steam? He's lost money in the long run by paying to be xbox exclusive, sony would have paid him and steam at least would have been free and profitable. I imagine microsoft give you a better contract when your game is already successful and you can tell them to get fucked if they don't make a reasonable offer.

Microsoft actually gave him the needed funding to continue making his game. His former partner left him in 09 and cut all his financial support. The main reason Fish wanted his game on Xbox first is because they financially support their upcoming arcade titles through promotions like summer of arcade etc. Besides disco, Polytron is only 2 dudes, Fish who has 0 knowledge of programming and renaud who realizes all the ideas. You should watch IDGTM, they explain alot in there for example why he entered IGF twice (mainly because this was his only chance of getting money to pay off his debts).

Needless to say I agree with you that Fish is a fucking idiot and says alot of stupid shit which is probably why alot of people he worked with have left him over the years, but you have to consider what happened to him and what shit he had to get through to publish fez on xbox live.

They actually talked very openly on the fez facebook page about it and renad said that microsoft fucked up the patch?! Whatever its alot to ask from a "studio" that only has 1 programmer (not that I will blindly defend anything they do)

Besides he is right the save file corruption only happened to such a small minority (arkham asylum everyone?) and from personal experience I can say that everything else in the patch is very good and also optional besides the bugfixes. The loadingtimes are cut by half and alot of stutters are gone, so most of the fixes were just optional aesthatic ones

Also I think the Xbox Deal was made shortly after they won their first IGF award in 2008. Back then STEAM wasnt too open about indie games, there were exceptions like World of Goo but you probably needed very good connections to get in touch with them and considering Phil Fish's habit of just yelling out stupid hipster shit before he even thinks about it (worse than the Meatboy guy) he probably fucked up with Valve in the first place. Now Im sure theyll release his game on STEAM and afaik theyre working on a PC release at the moment so it might happen, you always have to consider that they might still be on the exclusivity deal with Microsoft, its the same reason why Limbo only came to PC and PS3 over a year after Xbox Release its because they would have broken their contract with Microsoft.

He confused me because in that blog post he's claiming he owes microsoft money for being xbox live. As a consumer I think I hate the exclusive deals more than anything, I understand why they do it, but at the very least they should make the length of the deal public. They probably are making a steam port but can't say when it comes out because of NDAs.
