Looking at 1.9 changes, they look pretty mediocre. I say we reset the nether, but leave the overworld intact. Review this position at 1.10

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Version_historyfor anyone curious, but basically the overworld changes should only affect snow biomes, villages, and swamp. I don't think we even have those biomes yet and if you explore far enough some of them should generate i think? Also the huge mushroom biome should appear. We might have a swamp somewhere but the water tint should be applied i hope? Dunno about lillies. But yeah basically seriously minor changes that will hopefully appear in the world if you explore more and generate new chunks. Nether changes are a bit more important and exploring the nether is a pain so we will reset that. If you had a portal in there we will provide you with some more obsidian to place a new one. Just ask in-game for some.

no they'll all end up linked to the same portal that way. it only generates a new portal if it can't find one within 256 blocks, otherwise it just links to an existing one. Thats why for proper pairing you have to go in and build a portal in the right place on the other side. Unless you were the first person nearby to go to the nether.

Yeah we do have a swamp, iv'e just partially constructed a fortress over the top of it.
Perfect building ground as it's all relatively flat.
