To me happened to opposite. The time it took me to get there was enough for them to reinforce  Stopped my troops 40s before they got smashed into pieces  |

I think you're better of sending your troops, then holding half way between the cities. The horde will probably break of a portion of its force, and there's a window where what it leaves behind can be overrun.
To be honest, not a lot is looking good at my side of the map. Considering a grand retreat and refortification. Plus some weird glitch happened at Grovescurse, even though I'd destroyed the blight, one unit remained.. and now there's 10...

Yeah, burny can take spiderbridge now easily thanks to that tactic.
Though I can't see us winning this either. The center of the map looks pretty bad and I don't even know how to kill that 88 stack next to my door.

i lost hollow hill which is a serious blow to the dwarves of the north, i smashed the one serious army in that area but lost the battle by 1 point, i had risked it because victory even if it left me with one man he would have been able to deflect the small crappy armies they keep chucking out with the fortifications, but yeah the main threat is gone but im out of position now with no means of counter attack to push back the small holding forces |

Exactly, try 305 total.  EDIT: 155 of which are now advancing on my home city. I can hold them up with Entangling Roots but that only buys me a day. |

I'm pretty sure I overextended. Not sure how to get my Hobgoblins back home at the moment.
I think it's time to settle down and just upgrade stuff a bit. No idea what we're going to do about those trolls though Mode.. if I'd been awake during the night I'd have seen them split off and would have captured it by now. But as it stands I don't really have a chance. They'll take that and the fortified hobgoblin settlement next to it. I should never have marched to take howling hill...

Yeah, the glitch at groveschurch is screwing me pretty badly. Even though I obliterated the army there, the blight didn't go away, regenerated, and now it's sending more forces to take milkmarsh and I can't do anything about it.

so some of my inner forts are empty as they are totally safe but they are level 4, i just realised i can station 1 merchant in them, and the merchant will give more coin and hold off armies <40 |
