Decided to connect up my old 17" monitor to my son's Xbox 360. Bought a Xbox VGA Cable from Game (only £9.99, everywhere else seems to sell them for £15) and the monitor works fine, it's way better than the ancient 14" TV it was connected to.
There is now the problem of no sound, the cable does have 2 phono sockets but I cannot find any adapters to convert them into a standard 3.5mm Jack. I did try Maplins and what they recommended didn't work and cost £10.
Would USB speakers work with an Xbox?

Doesn't the xbox 360 come with it's own adapter? I'm sure I've got one lying around somewhere. I'm not sure the usb speakers would work to be honest.

Would that do the job? The green plug is a female 3.5mm Jack and the red/white ones are RCA/Phono

Maplins will have what you need. BoomJust search for "phono 3.5". If it won't reach the speaker jack, you can get a 3.5mm extension cable. There are lots of other variations in cable choice, you could get a couple of these or one of these and one of these

Last time I had a problem like this I cut up two cables and soldered the ends together. Doing this with coaxial cables is suprisingly tricky.

Many thanks to Capt. Valentine who said he'd send me the relevant connector

More belated thanks, the connector arrived about a week and a half ago, it's now connected to an ancient set of PC speakers and is blasting out the Xbox sounds.
