what is the level cap btw?

I am currently a low 11 level n00b with barely a set of heavy armour to my name and i too get destroyed by gaints (although its three hitted) currently going the honourable two handed nutter who can stealth to hunt game

disco i find with games like this the best way to play them if you want to play a role is too actually put the limits in of who you want to be rather then let the game force you to be that way. these styles of games allow you to do whatever the hell you want so it is up to you to put your own limits in such as deciding if all you want to do is to stealth your way around everything and not kill anyone. sure its easier to kill everyone because the game allows it but its up to you to decide that you wont and play it as your theif would!

my next playthrough i have decided will be a pure magic user with no armour (gulp) who will be part of the stormcrows. the one after that will be a pure theif who stealthily steals/kills only.

Level cap is 50 I believe.

I like to think improving my raw damage output on random enemies increases my chances versus dragons (probably does nothing because dragons probably get adjusted too). My point is though that as a player and as the thief i 'play' theres just no point stealthing past hostiles who realistically don't pose much of a threat to me, I convert them into stats points instead. As a player I could solve the shitty design issues through modding and playing with a certain style but ideally i'd like them to get the design right in the first place and offer some decent thief challenges/stealth opps.

I have caught a few people napping though so i'm looking to improve my stealth and go more of a deus ex stealth kill route, would still be nice to have one or two places where even that is a bad idea though!

ice magic is so badly op. I'm running 60% ice resist at the mo, and that levels ice with other stuff.

Now i'm running 90% frost resist, frost fights just tickle now. All the frost dragons guarding walls can't even do enough damage before natural healing tops me back up.

Also horses are completely imba. I couldn't figure out how to get to a dragon wall just now so i just rode up 80 degree mountain slopes to get to it.

Skyrim was released 10 days and 13 hours ago at the time of this post. That's less than 2 weeks...in hours, that's 253 hours.



In summary, Disco has spent more time playing skyrim than he has done anything else for the last 10 days.

I think maybe an intervention is in order?

He's left it running while he sleeps and when I dragged him away to do his share of the cooking. Sooooo, it's a bit more then actual but yeah he's still spent more time on it than anything else.

^this my playtime is closer to 100 hours. I've been making sure the past day or two to turn skyrim off to avoid inflating playtime further , but I left it on a lot before. My pc is usually downloading stuff overnight so I was just alt-tabbing from skyrim and leaving it most days.

Im starting to get more into it. Am midlevel 15 now and really loving it.

I like the Fallout games alot but for whatever reason I could not get into Oblivion. It just felt too openworld for me (as in no real motivating maingoal was given compared to -for example- finding your dad in F3), TES5 is even more openworld but has a more motivating mainquestline for me. The game really makes you feel like youre in a huge world that goes on without you required to change stuff. I love the amount of random quests you get by just listening to chitchat in towns or exploring caves. I dont know how much Im into the mainquest, Im currently at

. The atmosphere is great, the whole area of Skyrim feels like Northrend from World of Warcraft which makes it more interesting for me, I like snowy areas and the weather in this is great. The orchestral soundtrack took me by surprise, The Fallout games had a meh-soundtrack (the ambient stuff I mean, the 50s era Radiotracks were great), the Skyrim-score by Jeremy Soule is awesome! There were alot of moments where I was just wandering around listening to the music, it really adds to the atmosphere of this game.

Edit: Oh Im mainly going two-handed weapons. Im barely using spells except for the healing one. Am enjoying it this way alot, cant be bothered with the console-menus. The skilltrees are awful to navigate through.

old video, possibly fake? Hes actually sneaking and hidden when he steals stuff, so the bucket isn't allowing him to just rob stuff unless the bucket is obscuring the ais vision and allowing him to stealth in front of them. Might try it later.
