I don't know how you can be disappointed in points like teamplay and comms cruel/Tea.
We played now for 2 weeks a few matches.
What do you expect? I would say to get a good working team together you need to practice at least 3 times a week and for over 2 months.
If it doesn't work out after this time period you can be disappointed.
I don't think that teamplay will be the most important thing in this tournament, because the most of the participating teams will have the same issues we have.
Well, it starts with people deathmatching on the beginning of the match instead of participating in the class selection.
Then we have so much useless chatter, people stop listening even if there's only one person talking (I've warned about a sentry twice, while nobody else was talking and our team STILL somehow managed to get surprised by it).
Or we have cases where I warn several seconds in advance of spy, with disguised name, class, location AND target and he still manages to get his stab and away.
Or badwater. While I spent the entire round trying to get the sentry down, I just got no chance because there's constantly a homewrecker pyro and another guy watching the engi. Compare that to our defensive round where our engi got stabbed and sapped before he even got everything to lvl2.
I've seen übers at dustbowl where somehow only the übered heavy walks in with no support whatsover.
All of the above requires no training at all. To be frank, I expected stuff like that at our first match to work out. And that's just stuff that I - the spy who sees the least of his team - have noticed.
Or when ringle dropped out, it took us god knows how long to realize it/decide to pause the game.
Or when he came back, we told WDG to resume it, surprising half of our team.
@Caller: unfortunately we have few candidates - some are to inexperienced, some don't have the personality and some are just the plain wrong class. And since our team fluctuates so much, we definitely won't be able to make somebody permanent, but yes, we should assign somebody each round.
Speaking of which, of course we were too late for the match. AGAIN. Despite bringing two mercs.
That's just unacceptable and shameful. Also, it can theoretically get us kicked out of the tourney AND denied our medals!
@Further training: Ironically, today showed that both badwater and dustbowl - the maps we didn't discuss - have the most to discuss. Thing is, why bother if we never ever get half of our team into the training? And then we get people complaining about "too much talking"
And since we treated this like a real match, can everybody in the match please confirm they have recorded a demo? Because I've counted less than 9 and I doubt many have configured it to not announce it in the chat.
Edit: And while nobody asked, when I say morale, I mean stuff like announcing "oh it's over, we got no chance anymore". That happened several times today. Sometimes it was true, at least once it wasn't true (
very awesome save by medic/solly/? on dustbowl) and once somebody said it at the beginning of the round. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU MOTIVATE PEOPLE!
