I've seen servers who have the map votes disabled from 1-4, and the selection is 5,6,7,8,9, so you can't accidentally "switch weapon vote". Personally I think the only shit default map is Junction. Egypt, while not great, mainly suffers people not knowing what the hell they're doing on it.

We've been down the route of custom maps before and it instantly kills the server - even with fast download.

We've always had a no custom map policy on server 1 and I don't see that changing any time soon.
Also, will have a read through that Sam, looks interesting.

Reading this thread I had to check the Clan name, thought it might have been changed to 'Who moans....sulks'
I realise I'm not the most regular player but I play for enjoyment and rather like a variety of maps - especially those where everyone else doesn't know every last pixel of the map
There is a fine line between vigorous debate and appearing to be Harry Enfield's Mr. 'You don't want to do it like that'! Perhaps the healthiest thing is for the Admins to completely ignore this thread and to carry on enjoying playing TF2.

The only thing I would change would be to add slot-blocking for 1,2 & 3.
The maps and no of choices and everything are fine, because it's all totally subjective really.
Otherwise agree with the "if it ain't broke..." line of thought as per Deadly et al.

Generally speaking it would be nice to hear a little bit less rage and moaning on the server from everyone, it's getting quite bad at the moment. I left earlier partially because of people talking about "playing properly" and class choices... but that's not why I would hop onto a half-full server 1, it's about having a laugh with your game buddies.

I guess you have a point, but going back to the name of the clan thing... it kinda gets on your nerves if the only voice chat that's going on is saying how your team's not doing things right, or just general serious business...

imo the best way to solve it is a tier system that actually tells you a vote is about to happen because as discussed when a vote occurs i have lost time of the amount of time my vote was used up in a weapon switch as i was too engrossed in what i was doing. Not to mention the vote should be at the start of the round in the time leading up to combat like the walk out to the middle of the map or the setup phase as that way people have time to actually think about what to choose not in the last seconds of a match that could be on a knife edge.
now the tier system should be that you pick lets say 5 maps that it will pick one of those from as your number one choice always and then 4-5 maps randomly based on whatever you decide. that way it guarantees a popular map to vote for but allows people to have an element of choice.
anyway thats my 2 cents and is all my opinion also i have no idea if you are able to put any of that into action but i think it would help.
