Hadn't played it since I upgraded and got a new hard drive (I think I'd fallen foul of the more than 3 installs crap too). Had a hankering for some bloody sandbox carnage so I reloaded it last night, downloaded the patch and.... holy crap it runs ok on my machine!
The patch also removes the awful Rockstar Social Club software (although you can still log on if you really want to).
The game is actually quite fun when running at more than 10fps and quite nice looking when you get it off the min settings.

Back in Dec 08, I think I ran it on 800x600 >_> with low details and still had around 20-25 fps, but I kept going (bcuz I was so pumped for the release) and finished the story in about a week. As said, if youre fine with the performance issues (especially on an ATI card) its a fun game.

Might have to reinstall it next week when my new pc arrives.
It was really quite fun, apart from the bit where you die a lot.

Actually having a lot of fun with this game, to the detriment of my TF2 playing time and the annoyance of Mrs Bystander (she wants a go).
Anyone know where I get some decent clothes in the game?

I got a brand new wired X-Box 360 PC pad thing for about £12 off of amazon, would highly recommend it as you don't need to fuck about with mapping for 99% of the games that use them. I tried a 3rd party one before and it was horrible to configure, 360 one worked right out the box near enough. |

i got a wireless pad and connect and charge kit because i am m$'s bitch or something, it is good to have rumble and not need to mess about in appropriate games. Also it adds to my feeling of superiority over console gamers.

oh right i didnt know this but play & charge is just a usb charger but whichever, i got the windows wireless controller bundle so it comes with the receiver.

Very very addicted .... or was until I did the racing mission #1 about 20 times. Must of missed coming first by milliseconds about 10 times.
It wouldn't be so bad if the mission wasn't with the most annoying person the universe.
