Offensive engie should know better than to trade his pistol away anyway One thing I think Valve should push with the update (through achievements and through weapons) is engineer cooperation. I always try to upgrade another engie's teles if I'm at spawn, especially if his is active and mine's not. Teatime is excellent on that and helping out when setting up, but it seems most engies (especially on pubs) work in isolation since upgrading another's sentry doesn't get you any points when it kills things.

I expect we will see alot of achievements for doing these things. Also I just reread the blog post, new engi buildings will be upgrades OR in addition to current ones :O. having to manage 5 buildings could be cool but could also be a massive stress

If you're going to be hanging around your sentry a pistol is less necessary (your sentry can probably hit everything you can, and hit them harder) so a weapon to stop your stuff being completely wiped out by a passing spy while you run off to grab metal would be handy.

How about a redeployably sentry gun. Takes twice as long to build, but can be moved at the same speed as a heavy. Also can only fire when deployed, no firing while being moved or packed / un-packed. Say 5 seconds for each process.
What do you recon?
I still like the spoof engineer updaet thing from a while back. The radio active nail gun sounded like a nice idear. Hit spys leave a trail.

Why stop at redeployable. Lets make it a tank. That'll show em.

That would be completely overpowered.

I think a fake "blow up engineer" is needed for when you run out to get metal... Like the autopilot from the film "Airplane!"

That was such a BAWS movie.
Don't suppose anyone's seen the naked gun either? You know Ted invents the anti-carjacker and the anti graffiti wall? Perfect for dealing with spies!
