they could make the repair node a weapon witch is deployable and a one time use when the engy goes away from the base, he leaves it behind to repair the stuff while he is a way. the node would have a limited repair time like 30 seconds or so and a recharge time of 1 minute 30 or more (just an idea and fictive numbers).
The node could replace prolly the the shotty or the pistol.

A few ideas.....
1) A quick build level 1 sentry... but where it takes double or treble the amount of metal to get it to level 2 and 3. By quick I mean.. *quick*.... this would make engineer a better prospect in match play (albeit still very untenable in most games though). Offensive engineers would like this and you'd catch lots of people out.
2) The ability for the medic to be able to uber a sentry (regular or kritz). At the moment a gun cannot be saved by ubercharge. Probably a crap idea.. but would fit in nicely within the existing model AND only have a temporary effect.
3) A sentry with a paintball effect instead of bullets.. making players temporarily blind (shit idea really.. as people hate the stun effect and this would be no better).
4) A "natascha" effect sentry gun... slower rate of fire and damage... but with slowdown effect like the heavy. Could be very hard to counter without a spy!

The thing I liked most about the blog post is where they said the new engi items will be upgrades of existing ones  mwahahaha bout time he got a buff tbh,, he's been underpowered for a long time! also, 6 rocket clip for the solly would be nice
