Just like to point out that if you create an online profile for gflw you have similar restrictions, and I was playing l4d2 singleplayer the other day and my net dropped and it kicked me back to the main menu. The DRM has been creeping along all this time and I for one am glad that ubisoft have managed to make it blatent enough for everyone to pay attention.

Kicked from the game losing all unsaved progress if your net connection goes down? Absolutely ridiculous.

You can bet that once more the pirate version will circumvent the need for a net connection entirely, so what's the point ... apart from forcing people away from the PC platform.

thats only the straw that broke the camels back gflw does everything but that, it won't let you load a game without a connection and probably blocks saving? not fully tested myself. And l4d2 kicked me from a singleplayer game, granted theres no saves and no need to save but I was still midlevel and kicked from a singleplayer game.

I've been doing a bit more thinking on the subject, and I don't think this is really bout piracy at all, they know as well as we do that any measures they take for a single player game will be bypassed.
Personally I think that if the fuss over it dies down they will use it to insert ads in the games, not to mention all the usage pattern data they can pull from your playing habits. Saying it's about piracy is just a way for them to attempt to justify putting the system in place.

Lost a sale from me Sad I can live with not playing it (just like I've previously not play Spore).

Oh, and the reason is the second hand market, not piracy (although that might help, since it's a new system and will take a little while to crack).
