After having issues with Firefox, I've tried Google Chrome. *However* - I've noticed a tendency for my internet connection to jam up when using Chrome, and here is why: I seem to be spawning lots of Chrome processes - even though the browser isn't doing much (i.e. one or two tabs open at most). If I close Chrome, my internet connection becomes fully responsive again. Other people are reporting this problem as well. *sigh* looks like IE for me then

Which chrome are you using, beta or stable? beta is possibly a better bet - not saying it'll fix your problem, but won't hurt. I still think there's something else going on here, your pc is haunted

i currently have 10 tabs open and 12 processes running apparently :/. Chrome doesn't screw with my puny wireless connection though, no problems here.

Press shift+esc in chrome. Chrome creates a separate process for each tab and plugin, in order to improve security and stability.
And @Firefox thread that you closed too fast for me to post in: have you reported the bug?

Man, avoid IE, the rendering is sooo slow Chrome always does a ton o' threads, does it per tab after all. I'm still surprised you crashed firefox, presume it is broken but didn't first install service packs... (although I've never seen it crash explorer in Vista, and I've repaired a lot of laptops many I put firefox onto!). Try Opera. It's okay.

Chrome is rock solid for me, spawns the right number of processes.

You could also give the new FF3.6 a try. Apparently they solved a few performance problems there.
