Is Silent Hill Homecoming any good? Always wanted to try an SH game.

I also just bought Cthulu Saves the World/Breath of Death pack as I'd read about them ages ago and forgotten about them and some arcade shooter called RIP which looks pretty awesome.

I treated myself to Amnesia, and am tempted by one or more of the Dead Space, STALKER and Painkiller bundles. Anyone got recommendations/comments on those?

stalker looks nice but gameplay was meh to me.. kinda like crisis

Stalker is so much better than Crysis it's not even funny. Clear Skies is a bit of a dud, but Call of Pripyat was one of the best games of 2k10 and Shadow of Chernobyl is also great. They've both got good mod support now too, which has made them even better.

Dead Space was a competent Resident Evil 4 IN SPACE game that I also enjoyed. Not very original, but if you liked Resi 4 for it's solid shootery mechanics then you'll probably like Dead Space 1, especially if it's on offer. Is DS2 on offer? I've been looking to pick that up.

Well, Clear Sky is the one that's not in the bundle, so I suppose that's no great loss!

DS2 is currently £9.99, or £11.89 with DS1.

Cskies is Ok but they made some weird choices, and some things just weren't fully fleshed out, I've got kind of stuck on it. CoP felt really "complete" to me. All the systems in it made sense and felt meaningful, but because of the way they'd switched it to two or three big outdoor areas, some of the claustrophobic indoor areas weren't as gruelling as the ones from SoC. SoC is sort of sketchy in some areas, clearly unfinished in others (though there are so many mods to add things in) but has some of the best levels I've ever played in my life. I guess if you're looking for a Fallout 3 style game they don't really  suffice, though their RPG DNA is strong and they have a pretty open structure (indeed, after reading guides since I playde CoP I realised I missed a LOT of the game by not just wondering around by myself). Similarly, they aren't military shooters. They're definitely worth playing though. Even if you don't have the patience for SoC then at least CoP is worth playing through the end.
