OK, so those of you paying attention to Steam Friends may have noticed I'm totally addicted to this.
It's brilliant.

Defeating my first High Dragon in a fight that took about 3 mins in game, but more like half an hour due to all the pausing and tactical relocating, queuing up moves, keeping Wynne alive... so awesome and so rewarding when finally, after the dragon had mauled 3 of my party, my main character finally took it down. With an awesome animation thing where he leapt on its head and stabbed its eyes out. One of the best (and hardest) fights I've ever had in any game.

I started this originally as a Mage, but because of my Neverwinter Nights fanboyism, I initially hated the magic system, and due to the weak Origin story, nearly stopped playing the game altogether.
I restarted as a human noble, and this time liked the Origin, and the combat, but found I was identical to Alistair once I got him, save for base stats.
So I restarted *again*, this time as a Dwarf noble, which as Milly rightly says is a fantastic little Origin quest. But I felt with the slow swings of my 2-handed maul, I needed something better in combat, but more fragile.
So I started **agaiiin** with a Dalish rogue, focusing on two-weapon fighting. Haven't looked back since.

The game is superfantastic, as far as I'm concerned, does the whole fantasy thing extremely well. Party members you immediately either hate or love work extremely well and everyone has different opinions. The combat is sublime and incredibly well-balanced. I've had some fights where you have to think extremely tactically, different from other singleplayer RPGs where you tend to end up just charging and spamming abilities.

So to sum up, THREADUS RESSURECTUS! Discuss!

There a hot shapeshifting witch who can turn herself into a spider, bear or swarm of bees. She also has very nice breasts.

And yeah, tis well good game, restarted it recently as thanks to the RAID fail a while back I lost my save game just before the final fight . Loving the dual dagger, hi-dex elf; stupidly OP with the right equiptment/skills. Also, I'd recommend getting a re-spec mod, more to experiment and bugger about, but also because if you invest in a shite skill tree you're really punnished for it.

I unlocked all warrior specs for the next run, but I am a bit pissed because I have not managed to get the blood mage spec... stupid morrigan wasn't able to talk to the demon who can give you blood mage spec.

I had to kill Wynne because I destroyed Andrastes Ashes, don't know if it was a big loss. You can easily survive with potions imo.

The only part I didn't like about the game was the Fade stuff in the Circle tower. I know you get all the important attributes there but I think it is really annyoing to have to visit everything 2 times...

F3 is the best RPG world i've played in but some of the core mechanics of combat and levelling need reworking quite badly. As for dragon age bloody steam tricked me in the sale again! So its lumped on my pile of games i need to get round to playing, its currently sitting at the top though. I just need to get some disk space and free time.

I thought eventually you could buy books that sold you all the 2nd specs? Can't remember, haven't played it in a while but I'm sure theres 2 ways of getting each of them; one by learning and one by buying the book. Good thing is though, if you save before you buy the book, buy it, then without saving reload the game before you bought it, it still unlocks the skill .

I found the game really fucking hard until I got Wynne, potions weren't doing enough and I was dying all the time. Shit got loads easier with her, plus her dialogue with Alistair was some of the best in the game so I think you missed out a bit there mate .

You can't buy books for everything, e.g. you can only get the Reaver spec when you destroy the ashes of andraste and can become a Champion after finishing the Arl of Redcliffe quest.

I'm loving this game atm too. I liked NVN2 and KotOR 1 and 2 but they all were a bit buggy (I remember in KotOR2 there's some dialogue you can get stuck in if you chose the wrong options and in NVN2 there's a bug with mage's familiars that can erase party members ), whereas Dragon's Age seems a lot more polished and comprehinsive.

I have almost finished my first playthrough as a fullsize dual-wielding human noble, but I'll probably immediately start again to see all the different starting points. If human noble is the most boring then hopefully I shan't be disappointed

I think I was pretty lucky with the high dragon which drops the scale needed for Wade's armor; on the right hand side of the map there's a half ruined building thing which the dragon got half stuck on, meaning I could just range it to death.

I've also screwed over Alister by supporting that crazy Anora chick for Queen, in exchange for marriage, hopefully making my dude king I still have to do the final battle before I find out what happens in the Epilogue.

Most of the horrendous bugs in NWN2 are gone now, luckily.

There was a conversation in KotOR II that not only crashed the game, but also made *all* future conversations happen with no sound... still not fixed as far as I know.

@Ringel,

You can definitely get the Arcane Warrior specialisation elsewhere, if you're a Mage you can get it in the Elven ruins by using the altar that isn't for the Juggernaut armour quest after finding the Revanant's phylactery.

@Hz, yeah I've gone for the DPS on a 2-weapon rogue. With duelist, it's insane, cos you don't even need to be in a backstab position, you can use the guaranteed crits for 20 seconds skill. I attack more than twice a second, with like +25% crit damage. I took down the High Dragon by using swift salve as well, which made me attack more than 3 times a second! You can actually break the game if you're not careful as a high enough dex (I think around 75) with a couple of defence boosts means literally nothing in the game has high enough attack to actually hit you, so you just have mages to deal with.

Also Wynne is freakin' awesome, and makes the other 3 party members largely irrelevant as you can win most combats with attrition, as long as you don't do anything silly.

P.S. I hate Morrigan's guts.

Have played through all the intros now, will quickly review them all

Mage: Not bad, a fair few mentions/interactions throughout the game with the intro, but not the most interesting at all. Quite a fair few treasure here too.

Dwarf Commoner: Unbelievably short, will probably only have any reference in Orzemmar further on in the story. Next to no goodies, except a mace which I never tried but makes killed "bloody" apparently.

Dwarf Noble: Probably my second favourite, contemplating going through it with a dwarf a) for the sex lulz and b) because Orzemmar will be hella interesting. You can also pick up dwarf whores.

City Elf: Not bad but a bit annoying, fair few goodies.

Dalish Elf: I found this to be the most difficult. Not particularly interesting, and nothing much in the way of goodies.

Human Noble: Definitely my favourite by far. Compelling and brutal. Get goodies and the dog (who I named 'Cat', probably out of bitterness my kind wasn't represented) early.

I haven't played City Elf or Dwarf Commoner yet, because they sound pretty boring.

I thought Mage was boring, makes the game seem very ugly and clunky if you play it first with no experience of the others (thanks to The Fade's "everything here looks shit" rule), and can't see how it would affect the full playthrough experience at all.

Human Noble was where I first started having fun with the game, and the bit with the dog is great (who I first named "Fruckles".) Not hugely involved or smart, but a good solid RPG starter for 10.

I thought Dwarf Noble was excellent, and Orzammar is a much more interesting place to go thanks to it.

Dalish Elf didn't seem to make many people react to me differently in the game (except the Dalish camp, for all its worth, which is little) but I did quite like the background, that you have to go with Duncan out of necessity.

And the bit with Tamlin later on is quite freaky.
