Anyone here got this game?  As it's the just about the best game our laptop will play I've been playing it quite a bit lately and I've been wondering if anyone has heard of succession games.

Basically its where a group of players decide to play the same game, 20 - 30 or 50 turns for each player and then pass the file on to the next player and post their results http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=174328.

Would anyone be up for a WDG (and regs) Succession game?

I've got the game and the 2 expansion packs.

i got the game but neither of the expansions. its one of those games (along with hearts of iron and total war) where hours of my life just disappear and i don't know where

never played it multiplayer though

I'm playing a play by email game right now but play by email is hard - so sporadic, we've not even reached 0AD yet! we had some rocky moments but we did start 24/08/2008!

So, yeah, I could try a "succession" game. Would be quite interesting to see, I guess. Not bothered what expansions, got them all

I have this. I have have the re-make of the Colonization game (which was one of my FAVOURITE games when I was a kid). Played it quite a lot when I bought it but never got the expansion packs as they were pretty over-priced at the time.

I would probably be up for having a crack though if you want to set up that succession game idea.

I'll be up for this I shall have to be careful it took me months to recover from my last civ 4 addiction.

Don't know if you've tried it but rise&fall is a brilliant mod.

Have now made a map on vanillia Civ 4,  I fear I may of made it slightly too easy, I'll have to do a bit of playtesting.

Noble difficulty, playing as English Victoria, 6 Nations, Large map, Normal Speed, 3 Continents, Temperate Map.

Anyone want to make any changes?

Sounds good. If it's over quick we can always play again. 6 opponents keeps it simple.

I'd love a boatmurdered-like game, but sadly Civ4 is something you have to play well at to have fun

fall from heaven looks pretty good, and it has dragons!!

quite enjoying fall from heaven so far. Fall from heaven 1 is a scenario that comes bundled with beyond the sword so might be worth checking that out first but theres an incredible amount of additions in the full mod. Its got a whole list of its own scenarios, its own world type, the guys put achievements in there, it doesn't replace the core game wholesale but theres a lot of new units/terrain/improvements/buildings/new research structure. And i've barely even scratched magic users yet.

My entire kingdom is protected by mountains with only one bottleneck entrance which is nice but I was a bit slow in the early stages and it seems most of the barbarians and monsters are dead and my map is filled with empires already. Its definitely more about the units than cities this one. Still i've spied the last barbarian port city reachable on foot (I'm not connected to the sea) i'm going to go conquer that and sail over to the barb lands. Its all on the same continent theres just a large area blocked by peaks only reachable by sea that none of the ai have dared go yet so I better get my hands on it now. Will have beaten the game purely by having an entirely inaccessible empire by that point, altho theres still Armageddon at the end.

The good/evil system got a bit nixxed in my game tho, seems like most of the civs were neutral races, and the one evil race next to me (vampires) adopted a good religion changing them to neutral and a bloody weird combo of vampires who worship the earthmother and revere the dwarves... hmm. I was hoping for an epic clash of good vs evil that I as a neutral would avoid and backstab my way out of (i'm also playing ninja ghosts or something), but alas with everyone being neutral noone really wants a fight and they've resorted to the standard ai plan of pick on the weak.

I have this game along with Ham and pineapple. We've played it alot in recent times and i think i can speak for him in saying we would be up for a civ game

Pitboss would be a good idea if it is reasonably fair. I might look at mods but I still want to play more of the normal game
