Elemental power rocks! (especially if you're teamed with somebody who's abilities boost them)
Descriptions seem to be misleading. I've often found weapons that were far better than their description would like you to believe. (and vice versa)

Depends, I've got a corrosive pistol and a couple of hellfire SMG's that totally punch above their weight thanks to the afterburn; same with the volcano sniper rifles. I've found shock to be pretty much useless and explosive only good against things with pretty tough shields. 9 times out of 10 I'll go with a non-elemental over an elemental, but it really does depend.

im rather picky mostly i just use scoped revolvers now, and yes with elemental. the elemental damage is higher than normal damage if you use it right and i have a whole selection to play with. Except shock, shock sucks. Oh i do have a caustic thanatos machine pistol tho. They fucking rock, they are the ultimate spray weapon, mine has a clip size of 64 upped to 83 with my clip size increases, and thanks to my x2 skill i fire an average of 116 bullets per clip pretty high damage for a machine pistol and x4 acid, and at my current proficiency I empty a clip in 3 seconds and reload and am ready to fire again in 1 second. i'm also using an ammo regen class mod. basically i faff around with other guns and whip out my face melter when things start going bad.

One thing that makes fire rate on snipers/shottys kinda pointless is quickswitch.
ie. CS:S awp knife switch will make your sniper fire much faster than the 0.6 or whatever it says depending on how long it takes to get out. It works for shottys and launchers too but i once had a 0.6 sniper which i was able to fire at roughly 1 round per sec.
Also does anyone else find the quest weapons to be fucking awful?

This. On the first playthrough I didn't ever use them, on the second I kind of did, but only for a bit. They last a bit longer, but they're still pretty pants. |
