Now I've refreshed my memory, Junction is an OK map, but that last cap is simply way too close to spawn (well, with our server 1 config we have fastrespawn which is just going to kill it tbh).
Junction is an awful awful map. It's corridors of spam and a sentry fest. It does look good, but it's just so horribly cramped. Freight is far superior. As is glacier -

http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/101085To be fair, there is more of a community than you think, and a lot of the same players are there everyday, and its only popularity that attracts the idiots which unfortunately go hand in hand. Idiots wont bother on quieter servers.
Which I have to say are dealt with all the time. (I was banned for 1 day for being in spec with my *blank* name lol)
To say there are no decent players also a myth. There are many excellent players come to mind.
The only valid bad point is that they are 32 man, which you either like or you dont as they are different play style.
I have played on them in the past, and you're right - there are some canny regulars actually. Mostly I just found people were playing like it was deathmatch though. TF2 wasn't designed with 32 players in mind, and frankly I prefer 9v9 highlander, 7v7 or 6v6. Again though, you're right - it comes down to personal preference.
I meant idiots in the "bad gamer" sense really, pyros that run directly at a firing heavy, engineers who spend 5 minutes shooting the AFK guy, while the real spy saps all his gear. You know - idiots
