My thoughts on the demo:
Meh
Doesn't make me want to buy it at all. I think the only thing that would make me buy it is just the fact it's a Valve game (that's customer loyalty!), but untill I see it at a better price, no dice.
This. The only good bit was blocking a doorway and macheteing a whole hoard, other then that (as I expected) not enough of a difference between this and L4D1.

I think the l4d games (one as well as this one, probably) suck as game games, like games with rules and in depth tactics and skills. I think they're only really worth playing as sort of casual role playing exercises. I think they fall down once you heavily scrutinise them (Is there a comp l4d scene?)
However, it's a type of casual gaming I can get behind for £20. I'm looking forward to realism mode.

There is indeed. I recall watching a match on pwnage.tv. It seemed that they kinda understood the mechanics of the game, inparticular infected know that if one of them dies, what they'll respawn as (where as I thought it was just random) 2 terms I gained from it: Dirty Three: 1 Boomer, 3 Hunters Quad-Cap: The holy grail, all 4 survivors incapacitated in one *faps*

I played with Mama, going back to the flashlight thing - yeah, totally correct whoever said they still haven't made it so there are 4 dynamic flashlights. Basically, it sucks (maybe it's in realism mode?  ) when you have 4 lights, but only yours actually lights up anything, be it wall, zombie or whatever. Makes it like solo in the dark areas. Really sad since it's 2009...

sniffing around the rumour mill I have been. Many pungent smells I have been smelling. apprently the maplist.txt included with the demo includes the L4D1 maps. http://gamebattles.com/forums/t/2581412.htmlthis isn't a massive surprise as valve released the source files to the official campaigns and the old sdk works with l4d2 so it was obvious someone was going to release the old maps before the download servers had even stopped choking anyway. But its nice to have confirmation from the usual file sniffers. Also people are reporting seeing people playing L4D1 from inside the the L4D2 demo implying the matchmaking may in fact be cross-compatible as well. anyone tested this yet?

i've had a look myself and the L4D1 maps are actually commented out so this might not be the proof i'm after. It does however list all L4D2 maps giving a clear overview of the whole thing.
it always was pointless dibble. I mean L4D1 maps have their source code available to the public, and L4D1 SDK maps work in L4D2 so go figure. The only way valve have any possible control over the situation is to release them themselves, which they've talked about doing in interviews. They couldn't seem to make their mind up tho if the L4D1 maps would be free with L4D2 or require you to own L4D1

well admittedly you need to have seen a lot of previews too, but from everything i've watched i can tell you approximately crescendos and level themes and uncommon thatd be around on each of those.

whats interesting looking at those is theres no overlap. There's absolutely no versus achievements for boomers, smokers, and hunters. To a new player this would be very strange unless... we can also do the L4D1 achievements
