(And it works in books because you dont have to lose the place on the page to read them - when you have to scroll, it's difficult to find the place where you were on the page.)
I agree. Maybe if there was a link at the bottom to take you back to where you were on the page...but it would probably be easier to just put them in the body of text.

Overall though I've been reading the articles and they're very interesting, they add more depth than most tf2 articles about.

Actually there is. The numbers, e.g. [1] are linked to each other, so clicking on the number in the footnotes brings you right back where you left off.

But since it appears to irritate a number of people I will consider avoiding it (or at least reducing it) in the future.

I advise you to only use them if it's a substantial deviation, not just single sentence or whatever.

Good advice.

I find the articles very readable and the content is great. There have been a couple where I've avoided reading the footnotes until the very end. I'd be inclined to be more verbose in the main article, and save the footnotes for stuff that is more exotic. Wink

Good job though mate, very good job!

Something new on the Fort: Radio TF2 goes online.

It's a quirky side project which has been on my mind for quite some time. I have no idea if the concept is effective (you tell me) and of course it will have to be seen how much this idea carries (though this provides a canvas which could hold a lot of very different things).

And again, an open call:
If you like the idea behind Radio TF2 and think you have something to contribute, give me a holler.
If somebody is even more interested, contact me. There's a premise behind Radio TF2 which is quite rich (and I will reveal more of that soon) and IMHO has a lot of potential Wink

While I like the idea of popular songs reimagined to the theme of something else (doing that all the time with my friends, too), HAVE YOU ACTUALLY TRIED SINGING THAT???
I had Let it be running in the background for like 5 minutes, and the amount of ellipses I had to make (not to mention my lack of singing proficience) was disturbing to say the least.
So throw in a couple of apostrophes, and also it needs a "-guitar solo here-" indicator.

Okay, now that I have it out of my system, can you pretty pretty please keep doing that? Also lets find someone (whose voice is a bit more apt for the purpose) to actually sing and record these! I shall make sure that if I have any ideas for other songs you will be the first to know. Smiley

HAVE YOU ACTUALLY TRIED SINGING THAT???
Sure I have Cheesy. Some of those songs (I have more in various stages of completion) are by now even more familiar to me with their TF2 lyrics than their original ones.

Some lines are a bit rough because you may not get immediately at which note the lyrics should start and that can throw you off.
Example fourth line: "Other times it’s clear my team is sucking"
You may try to start with "Other" on the 1, which doesn't work, but the "Other" is intended to be pulled forward so that "times" is the 1, then everything else falls in place.
That kind of freedom is needed to make the lyrics work, but it's difficult to show that without using extra notion marks.
BTW: The original starts the same way. In "When I find myself in times of trouble" "find" is the 1 (also on other spots).

FANTASTIC, Tea! Love it! Please think of more!

We've done impromptu singing on Mumble many-a-time while playing TF2... Perennial favourites we've nicked off others like "It's beginning to look a lot like Dustbowl..."

One we sang on the spot was about WDG's fearless leader:
(to the tune of Barry Manilow's Lola/Copacabana)

"His name was Junta,
He was a heavy,
With a minigun and medic healing him,
And on the server,
Who Dares Grins server,
He doesn't afraid of anything!"

(or something like that)

Have you considered recording any of these, maybe avec video montage?
